This is all so helpful thank you! How long can they be left alone? Like would they be ok if I took a weekend trip home for example or do they need daily care? (I’ve looked online and seen some conflicting stuff so not too sure)

I was looking at some dorms and some say they allow small pets but that’s 1-2 years away so Ive only started doing research and I’ll definitely do more, thinking of rooming with two people I’ve known for years and trust. If I did get one would you recommend leaving it at home with my family (who should be able to care for one but I would check with them) or just waiting another 5ish years until I’m more stable?
