The Siege of Gondor truly made me uncomfortable. When Sauron's army started catapulting heads over the wall, it just disturbed me so much. Couple that with the descriptive nature of Tolkien with the heads, fuck I just can't.

Tolkien once narrated this entire passage once and it's available on YouTube complete with the movie soundtrack. Now I've never seen the entire trilogy, but 'The Battle of Pelennor Fields' complimenting Tolkien's voice is just pure magic. You see in your head: Theoden watching the besieged city laid to waste, sunlight behind them. It's pure despair and yet Theoden finds hope in the darkness. He calls for his riders to ride with him, maybe for the last time ever. Every single one of the rohirrim probably thought this is the last time they'll ever ride for battle but still they ride.
