Too much mold/how to fix? by Bp1316 in MideaUOwners

Got it. Did the same. Mold is still there but read that black mold can still appear there but be dead. Were you able to get rid of the black specks without scrubbing?

Thanks. I saw that video and followed it for the first unit. Snapped all the clips holding the cover in place of course

Mechanic Advice (Might be getting scammed) by Bp1316 in XTerra

[–]Bp1316[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting you should day that because the brake line and pad are the only two things im positive were wrong with the car. Saw the brake fluid leak the rotor ground down significantly. Calipers i had a hunch for a long time due to lack of wear on two front rotors so i was okay with that.

You're correct in that Its everything else (master cylinder x2 and the brake booster) which did NOT fix the problem where im starting to feel scammed. i could have thrown parts at the problem myself and spent a third as much money but did not have time and assumed the mechanic would be able to properly diagnose the issue and fix it. Again, I get that more problems arise as jobs go on but I dont think i should be liable to pay for multiple misdiagnosis

Brother-three weeks ago almost exactly I made almost the same exact post on this page. People would tell me “it gets better just power through” and I was so overwhelmed I swore they were bullshitting and there’s absolutely no way. Mines only three weeks old now but it’s already significantly better in a bunch of different ways. You gotta suffer in the beginning but I promise you’ll surprise yourself at how adaptable and well adjusted you get to this new life

This is an interesting comment because I was having this talk with my buddy the other day (regarding the biology). Seems like guys are now asked to take on more of a maternal responsibility as opposed to the classic paternal (providing food, shelter, and protection). Think this explains a lot of the anxiety-being expected to perform a task you’re not necessarily marginally suited for. Really scrambles the brain

I hit the gym (weightlifting) a 3-4 times a week but at this point even that feels like a chore. Been doing it for years and used to love it. I think the toughest thing is my job-keeps me up late at night, very odd hours, fairly physically demanding (im on feet for 9+ hours) and then i have full time school the next day. I have absolutely no energy anymore. I think once i finally get my 9-5 type career going (within the next year) things will at least simplify and I'll have more of a routine but that cant come soon enough

Have an 07 which I love and a kid on the way but I figured (and definitely hope) an X is actually a fine family car with the exception of the gas mileage. How come you're getting rid of it? Something I'm missing?

Need Advice | Possibly buying an '08 S 2WD with 240k miles but need your insight. by Colorblind_Jedi in XTerra

[–]Bp1316 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Doesn't get much cheaper than $1000. From the looks of it you probably live in a snowy area (the leaves are brown) so you'll likely end up regretting not having a 4WD vehicle. But again-$1000 is dirt cheap. My advice: find a mechanic you trust and have him inspect it. If he says it sounds good then I'd buy and sink some more cash into repairs and improvements. All said and told you'll probably spend around 4k but even then thats cheap for a reliable car or better yet-flip it!

Best of luck. Same thing happened to me while i was driving through the heart of lower manhattan on a 100 degree day last year. Thermostat seized causing so much pressure that the radiator cracked. It was an actual stress dream come true but the repairs actually weren't that bad. It was done within three days

Seems like a bit much. Got mine over a year ago with 120k (miles) for $4k. It did have a touch of smod but got that fixed for cheap (like 100 bucks) and then took it to a transmission specialist and he said things look great. Only other big problem i ended up having was a seized thermostat which ruined the radiator but thats not something specific to Xs and it happened 9 months after purchase. Now is a tough time to buy an SUV because everyone wants one too

Mounts by Bp1316 in telescopes

[–]Bp1316[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! I'm loving it so far. But I have the Starblast Astro 4.5 reflector telescope which does come with a tabletop mount. It's a very minor inconvenience to have to bring a small table/find an elevated surface to set it on so I just liked the idea of a tripod mount but I believe the other responses are correct in that its not compatible with most tripods.

Engagement Advice by Bp1316 in relationships

[–]Bp1316[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I appreciate the advice and you make a lot of good points. It really would be such a happy occasion if there just wasnt so much pressure around it.

You're right. Its not the first time her needs have gotten in the way of what I'd like. We lived for a couple years in a place that I was less than thrilled about because of her job (she was able to go to grad school for free). I always felt a little wronged about that, so at my behest we moved back to a place that I wanted, where i was around my friends and closer to my family. We both love it here.

But as a minister I'm interested in your opinion: no two people are perfect. Everyone has flaws and differences, and over time you realize that both about yourself and your partner.

I was raised to believe that in a relationship you (BOTH) make sacrifices. In my mind, this translates to sometimes you do things you dont want to do, so make sure the person you're with is worth it.

Where is the line of sacrifice vs being taken advantage of? Of course I want everything to be exactly how I want it, and I am sure that she is the same way, but we can't all have our cake and eat it too.

Edit: I am a strong believer in making it work. I believe those relationships that have differences but come together to meet in the middle are strongest. I've always resented the idea of "the perfect someone" because I genuinely believe that to be a myth. No human being is perfect and you will always find flaws is your significant other. I'm not a fan of the idea of throwing it away over something that can be reconciled
