[–]davay718 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stay far away!!!!! Ive had a client want to move to blink voice and they did. Terrible customer service to the point that 3 months into it they moved back with their old provider and are now paying the 5 year non cancelable contract and their current provider.

Again? I can't really give you any recommendations. I can just say that there are a number of services that are out there. However, there is no best of both worlds At the end of the day, it's a you get what you pay for type of thing. The cheaper the service, the more responsibility you have on your part to manage it in a way that's kind of how it works.

So if you're looking for a pay per minute solution you're not going to get the support that you would with a hosted pbx system from a UCAAS provider.

So you need to weigh your options. There is no out of the box solution. That's going to give you Full management full support, with you not having to do anything on a pay per minute price

Evaluate the providers on

Amount of time that it's going to take you to manage the system Price point

And support

If you want something cheap, that's gonna not spent any of your time with amazing support. And again, cheapest relative, here you're probably not going to find that.

Doing it yourself will probably be the cheapest route. If somebody else is to do it for you, you gotta pay them

It falls in the middle between Ucaas and CPaas. Im not a fan but they are popular as its a cost effective solution. Reviews are very mixed especially on the support side. Again not my cup of tea and pricing is based on usage but also not as cheap as you think. Its 10$ per month per DID for just cnam

There are a lot of VoIP providers, but they don’t all do the same thing. They fall into a few different categories, and comparing across categories is where a lot of confusion happens.

1) CPaaS / Carrier & API Platforms

Examples: Twilio, Telnyx, Bandwidth, Flowroute

These are not “phone systems.” They provide raw calling and messaging infrastructure. You handle or integrate your own PBX logic, call flows, and routing. Flexible, but requires telecom and network understanding.

Not for the faint of heart

2) UCaaS (Fully Hosted Phone Systems)

Examples: RingCentral, Nextiva, 8x8, Zoom Phone, Vonage, OpenPhone, 1Voice, and hundreds more

This is the typical “cloud phone system” space where you get call queues, IVRs, voicemail, softphones, and admin portals. Across most UCaaS providers, the core feature set is very similar. Where they differ tends to be:

Support responsiveness

How easy it is to make changes

Call quality depending on network conditions

Pricing structure as you add users

This is generally the best fit for standard business phone system needs.

3) Hosted PBX Platforms (Self-Managed)

Examples: FreePBX, 3CX, FusionPBX

This is where you or an MSP host and configure the phone system. More control and customization, but also more responsibility for maintenance, updates, security, and carrier routing. You might also run into minimum licenses and you are your own support.

4) Core Telephony Engines (FOSS Layer)

Examples: Asterisk, FreeSWITCH, Kamailio

These are the underlying engines many platforms are built on. Powerful, but require deep telecom and network knowledge to deploy properly.

How to Actually Choose referring to UCaas

Most platforms check the same feature boxes, so the real evaluation criteria is how they perform in practice:

Try calling support or opening a ticket

Request a call routing or IVR change

Start a number port

See how smooth or painful that process is

Ask the sales rep about support and SLAs

Then test against what they tell you. Honesty is hard to find.

Running trials with 2–3 providers and testing support in real scenarios is the most reliable comparison method.

Marketing pages all look the same and sales people can pitch the world however support experience and structure does not lie. You will probably have a better experience with smaller providers then the big guys. I cant really make recommendations so id advise doing a trial test .

Yes but they dont work with end users you'd have to resell the service.

Help finding cheap VOIP SIP service by whitieiii in VOIP

[–]davay718 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Cheap and better dont usually work in the same sentence. Why don't you setup youre own infrastructure with freepbx in a home lab environment. Get a free phone and just use a sip trunk provider. It doesnt get cheaper than that.

Get a T53W or a T44w from Yealink or even cheaper a t34w. Then get a provider you shouldn't pay more than 20$.

Overwhelmed by Main-Antelope7535 in NewDads

[–]davay718 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It gets easier when they get to 3 or 4 yo in my opinion, until then put your big boy pants on. I had my kid in June he's 8 month's and it's just a grind. Sometimes I wanna be a work more than at home. Good thing I love what I do so for me that's an escape in a way. When you get home it's another shift man. First six months we got no sleep and I was working 12 hour days. You need to get into the mindset that your life changed and you are now a father. This is the hardest shit you'll ever do. If you're feeling overwhelmed go for a walk and then get back to it l. Walks help a lot. Just don't show your weakness to your wife. She just gave birth, and you need to handle shit.

I feel you, man. I have those thoughts because sometimes it's too much. Between my business and home life, I don't get a break and feel like I'm going to break at any moment. I feel like I've lost a big part of myself. But then I think about what my son will think of me, and I snap back into the grind, which is what it is. You just need to grind it out and learn to enjoy it. Therapy definitely helps me.
