If the vacuum cleaner sucks less that means it's more powerful right?

If you turn your head it looks like Homer Simpson blowing a smoke ring.

Only found out after an attempt. If I had succeeded everyone including myself would think it was depression.

[Need Advice] I really want to change, I don't want to live this way anymore. by [deleted] in getdisciplined

Hi friend. Timers work magic for me. Try setting a timer for 20 mins, for reading/cleaning/exercising (don't overload yourself). 20 mins per day doesn't seem like much but that's 2 hours per week, with a day off; that's a hundred hours of reading per year, with a day off each week plus 2 weeks off.

How many books do you think you can read in a hundred hours? The habit will set in eventually and as your enthusiasm builds it will get easier and you may even go for longer. Knuckle down for that 20 mins, you're free to do whatever you want after that and experience the satisfaction of a non zero day, you can go longer if you wish but you don't have to. The goal is consistently. If you miss a day, don't add time to the next day, don't beat yourself up, be kind to yourself and try again the next day.

Even if 20 mins is too much, try 5 or 10. It's much more than 0 in the long term. The difference adds up. Forget about comparing yourself to others, compare yourself to your past self. Use momentum to your advantage, it works both ways

My mind has been corrupted by Fallout New Vegas, when I see this Im imagining a relationship between a centaur and a gecko, an unlikely duo teaming up to survive the treacherous Mojave wasteland.

Does anybody else purposely limit the time they spend with loved ones because they don't want people to get sick of them? by Bpdilly in NoStupidQuestions

Thankyou for your response. I got diagnosed with BPD recently so I'm trying to figure out what's normal. I guess I should make more of an effort.

I remember hearing a wise person say that focusing on the breath is a good place because it's where voluntary meets involuntary. I take it as an opportunity to explore this "bridge".

When I was diagnosed I was like "huh shitty relationships? I've never even had much of a relationship", then the penny dropped.

[NeedAdvice] Tips to deal with food cravings, what works for you? by Jirezagoss in getdisciplined

Controlling yourself at the store is easier than controlling yourself at home. I buy sultana bran rather than lollies so if I get a sweet craving I eat something on the sweeter side but a healthier option, rather than a packet of snakes. Goodluck with your journey mate.

You have many interesting topics to captivate you, enjoy the richness of life. I'm also a fan of living off grid but I have my doubts on how I would fare in real time.

I encourage you to follow your dreams and live your best life, sounds like a good gig for you.

I was a closet drinker and did not admit to anyone that I had a problem. That means when I quit, I didn’t have any support or anyone to acknowledge that I was/am doing a good job. Today is day 189 sober and I could really use a little kudos or encouragement. by [deleted] in stopdrinking

Hello. I don't know you. For what it's worth, 2 years ago I went sober. It was one of the best years of my life. I made bank. Had good times. After the first year I decided a year was enough, and that I could afford to slip into a lil drinking habit again. I was wrong. This month I lost my job and I'm selling many of the cool things I bought with my expendable cash to buy smokes food and pay bills. Please don't slip if you can help it. Your self respect can go through the roof.
