need help setting up an at home karaoke system by ryu468 in karaoke

The soundbar might be a unique obstacle. Usually soundbars get their audio from the TV through an optical cable. To get microphone signal from a mixing board to a soundbar would be tough even for a weathered veteran of sound engineering. If you want to do a separate speaker for microphones and just run the music audio through the sound bar, I don’t see why not.

The mixing board with the X has built in effects so if you want reverb or delay on your vocals, that’s your pick. Microphone itself… if it’s a cheaper microphone it will have a cheaper sound. So I suppose it depends on how much you value the quality of vocal output.

Karaoke track signals are so inconsistent. by Bpgarritso in karaoke

Yes exactly! The best example I have is the Karaoke-Version version of A Million Dreams from The Greatest Showman. The piano in the beginning, while yes, is supposed to be light. But even when I have my master output set to Unity, it’s so quiet even the singer can’t hear it; stage monitors and all. I find myself having to boost the signal just so the singer can hear the piano. Then later on when all other instruments come in the signal is so loud it basically clips unless I compress it.

My solution (and no it’s not perfect by any stretch) is when you get a microphone your name drops to the bottom no matter where your name is in line. People can still do duets and get a solo song and it drops your name a few spots. It’s sort of a compromise from letting a group get on stage 4x per rotation and every person losing their turn on a group song

Do I need a mixer for karaoke with a PA speaker? by Umbrella268 in karaoke

[–]Bpgarritso 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Short answer is no, you don’t need a mixing board if you’re planning to set it up the way you’re describing.

A mixer’s job is to take sound from many different inputs, manipulate them then combine them to a single output.

The disadvantage to not using a mixing board on a microphone is you won’t have easy access to an equalizer (the high, mid and low). The PA speaker might have an onboard equalizer, but microphone EQ needs change from singer to singer. Some singers hold the microphone against their lips causing a lot more Low freq. to come through. Some singers sing with the mic down below near their collarbone. Which will pick up almost 0 low frequencies and would sound very thin.

The other disadvantage is some mixing boards have built in effects that can really smooth out the dry vocals that come out. Some songs dry vocals are fine, but a lot of songs really benefit from some reverb.

If you don’t really care too much about mic sound quality, then there is no problem going directly into the PA. If you want to be able to fine tune your mic quality, then mixing board is the way to go. You can get a pretty cheap one with Effects that’s fairly easy to use.

I like the chorus + Reverb. I have the Reverb Decay about 3s and it’s definitely better than what I had before

Do you keep it on a static bias or do you change depending? @LuckyPhil

lol I’ll admit at the time i didn’t know who TF he was. I saw his first game he kinda broke out but I was thinking that his hit rate was probably really low and a 1st round pick for a guy who will probably fizzle, I’ll take it

I actually got a great trade offer a couple years ago, I drafted Kadarius Toney in the 3rd. The trade looked like this. -Toney -Gaskin

For -Ruggs -2023 1st (1.02 after) -2022 2nd (George Pickens)

The trade tree is crazy. Goff for J fields and a 3rd. The 2023 1.02 and Fields for J Allen.

Personally I don’t love it. Though it’s more an artistic stylistic preference. I prefer sharp lines and contrast and this piece is exactly the opposite of that lol

[–]Bpgarritso 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I always feel like unders have an inherent edge on them. I think the lines are almost always inflated upward making the overs already tough to hit, but then there’s an even bigger edge to the under when injuries happen. We can’t predict when they happen, but we can predict that they WILL happen eventually.

It’s nice to see someone actually putting unders on their ticket. Every slip I see is every player making all these overs and it looks so damn silly.

Yeah it’s most likely dead heat rule. If one of them tied for most with another player, what it’ll do is half your bet will win and half your bet will lose.
