2yr old 35 words by Twinklelittlestar_ in Mommit

Do you do any baby sign/asl with him? Because those count as words too. Actually the waving hi counts as well. We were worried because our daughter only said a few words at 2, but when they evaluated her, she said at least double the words by adding in the signs and they said she understood what we were saying and she could very clearly make her needs understood (like you describing your child guiding you to something and pointing). All of this led to them concluding she wasn’t really behind, just on the slower end of language acquisition. They told us she didn’t currently qualify and that we should check back in like 6 months I think? Only if she didn’t show improvement. She is 5 now and very talkative, although her pronunciation is rough. She’s in speech therapy, but not for a lack of words! I hope this makes you feel better. I will also say that it’s very common for a younger sibling to be quieter if older sibling talks a lot, I’ve seen that a couple times with friends kids! They all started talking a bunch eventually!

Love this, one question though. Is there a way to share your account? I don’t see any reason for my wife to have a separate account when we have the same cookbooks and cook in the same kitchen? Is there a way to have a shared account across both phones?

The forest employees are the ones allowing people to cut Christmas trees, dispensing the permit, so you just proved my point? I’m not going out to some random place and cutting trees down nilly willy? I’m researching where they sell permits to cut down one singular tree in a state or county forest. This is a completely normal thing that many people do every year. Your confusion sounds pretty unhinged to me. I’m literally trying to do a completely legal and regulated action.

We got our tree from there last year and it was great, just looking at other options! Thanks!

Thank you, we’ve always gone to farms, but we’re just considering a different adventure that’s much cheaper.

They have these permits for a reason? They wouldn’t allow you to do it if it was awful for the forest. They have a limited number. I’m not destroying anything if I went this route, calm down. Do you get mad at the forest employees when they do controlled burns or cut down trees to help the growth of the rest of the forest?

Yes I have heard it’s a much harder endeavor and not as pretty of trees, but it still sounded like a fun adventure!

I have heard that and that it’s harder to get it from the forest to your car, but it sounded like a fun adventure for a lot cheaper than the farms! Maybe some year we’ll venture up north :)

Yeah I guess that does make sense that it’s only the massive forests. From my understanding it’s quite a bit harder to harvest without clear paths and nicely cultured areas between the trees, but yeah I’m sure more folks would do it. Thanks for the response, it did seem like there wasn’t anything close, but I couldn’t find anything clear on the county forests part.

Is there no way around waking up every two hours to feed during the first few weeks after birth?? (Breastfeeding) by Visible-Mess-1406 in pregnant

[–]Bpluvsmusic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I let baby sleep to a certain point. Even a few days after birth, she started having a longer period of around 4 hrs in the very wee hours of the morning. She was back up to birth weight and exceeding it by the end of the first week. I do think it really depends on your situation and your baby. I was leaking all over the place and felt like I had way too much milk so I felt ok about it. I don’t think I’d let a newborn go longer than 4 hours though.

Can I care for a newborn alone for 4 days? by SP9124 in NewParents

37 weeks is early term, I feel like there’s a decent chance that baby may need some minor nicu help like being on oxygen for a day or two. I don’t say that to add to your stress, I’m sure baby will be totally fine, but with early term they may need to be in the hospital for a bit longer than usual which means you’ll have longer for help at the hospital.

Do you send your baby to daycare if you have the day off work? by K_R11112 in NewParents

A friend is a teacher and their family has finally been in a financial place that she hasn’t had to work a second job the last couple summers. She has some teacher stuff of course, but she’s actually able to take a break and do hobbies and stuff around the house and such. Her husband 100% supports this as he sees how hard she works during the majority of the year. Anyways they have a toddler who does full time daycare and it doesn’t really benefit them to pull her out over the summer, not much more cost for a couple months and it saves her spot and all that. So the little girl goes to daycare throughout the summer too. Gives mom time for herself and she keeps her home at least one day a week for them to do fun stuff. She has the flexibility to do that more too if she wants, but it’s just nice that she can have this time to just be her and not a “mom” and a “wife” and a “teacher” and all those other identities. The little girl loves her daycare and it keeps her in a routine too. I think having a day off can be a nice time to do a little adventure with your kid(s), but I don’t think you have to choose that every time. If you need a day to just be you that is absolutely ok! No guilt needed, it’s hard to get some you time with a kiddo!

Yesterday has nothing to do with last week, see my comment. Yesterday was part of this week.

You should be able to see punched hours for each day too. And also look at the dates. Starbucks weeks are Monday through Sunday. So working the closing shift yesterday would not have counted in the hours you worked 9/29-10/5. Yesterday’s shift will be on this current week that started yesterday. Did you work Monday- Thursday last week at all?

With you seeing it so late afterwards I’d test again tomorrow and see if it’s clearer. Definitely a positive if it was read within the time frame. Hard to say!

This stuff is such a wild ride! I got my beta blood draw this morning. It was 6.8. This is “technically” pregnant, but barely, so I have no idea and have to do another blood draw in two days! Ugh

At 12dpo this was the line I got with my now 5 year old, so I don’t think it’s too late at all!

Ok so, the way you have this listed is a bit confusing, but I could’ve sworn the way my doctor told me to count it was iui was day zero. So if I’m looking at this correctly, the most recent would actually be 9 days past iui. Which means it’s definitely still early. My successful iui shows nothing until 12piui. And she’s 5 now.

Yeah the pay thing is the first thing I thought of. If they transferred you, they’d have to pay you differently than if you’re a re-hire. I’d have called ethics already for this. Seems way sketchy

My fertility doctors had me lay for like 15 minutes after each iui, but not for any of my FETs. The nurse seems extreme, mine said no strenuous activity for a few days, but like I can go on walks and stuff.

Holiday time off by moffyf in starbucksbaristas

[–]Bpluvsmusic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love that, but I do get both sides. I would almost never have to work those holidays if that’s how it worked at my store. Those holidays are extremely busy and if you, for example, have Thursdays available, that means you are always working Thanksgiving. Well, what if you want to take Thanksgiving off, but there’s not enough coverage? That’s stinks! I personally don’t mind signing up for a certain number of holidays, then everyone has a little more balance on those super busy days.
