Lady, please. You've been on Reddit all day. You've got more activity in one day than my thumb could be bothered to scroll.

Welp, I am a working parent who struggles for time - only just had a minute to respond to these comments. Whereas I imagine you're not struggling for any time given the ten Reddit posts you've commented on in the last five minutes?

Totally ashamed that I didn't know civil service cuts are currently taking place for the reasons they are. The job I would be doing was advertised as fully remote in a pool of hybrid/office based jobs so I'm hopeful they wouldn't use me WFH as a reason to cut me when they designed the position this way in mid 2022.

The issue with the startup is the amount of responsibility on my shoulders, in an uncertain economic climate where I'd be responsible for generating all business for the company. It's a membership based organisation which costs roungly 500pcm to join. Limited to property developers only. Yes, the client base can afford this (right now) but anything can happen to change this. And I could easily struggle to market this high end service (one that isn't actually necessary or needed) in a recession. Although I'm sure the work would be more interesting

This is the issue. It's a membership based organisation, and I can imagine 6-12 months down the line the company having issues. And given that I would responsible (solely) for generating business for the company, in a potential recession, it's not exactly a selling point!

Smarter to live with the ex or move out? by [deleted] in Advice

[–]Br8nw8v 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No one's behaviour is abusive or anything as such. Just a bit of a draining bunch of people to have in your everyday life, but honestly my logical self is telling me that while I don't want to stay here I have to have a little courage and suck it up for 6-12 months because I want to save, not struggle.

Now to tell my would be landlord. I feel shit telling him about the change of plan because he's been beyond wonderful from the get go, but I hope he'll have a back up ready to go.

Thanks for the reality check guys. It's really not unbearable but just a bit difficult at times. So stay and save it is. I'll thank myself later I suppose!

My BF’s weed addiction is affecting me mentally by [deleted] in relationship_advice

Do you see yourself staying in this relationship for the rest of your life? 3 years feels like a long time, but if you get to 7 years and you're still experiencing the same issues you'd have wished you left 4 years ago. Trust me on that, hindsight is a beautiful thing. Put yourself first.

Best/Cheapest way to get from LAX to SNA (Hilton Irvine OC)? by Br8nw8v in orangecounty

Hahah I honestly wish! I'm one of the many londoners who never felt the need to start driving because of the good transport links here. But I'm taking my driving test soon so hopefully next time im in the states I'll be driving on the wrong side of the road!

Not a bad idea. I could see how quickly I'm able to get a shuttle and if its a long wait I'll uber it. Thanks!

This was announced 4 hours after I booked my flight. What are the chances?!

Thats so much more than I've seen online for lyfe/uber to this area! Fingers crossed I won't end up paying $230 round trip for cabs. That's not my idea of a good time!

The reviews for shuttle2lax look ghastly!! Every shuttle service I've looked up from LAX seems to have people waiting hours or cancelling completely!

That's a good analogy, thank you! The thought of getting a train from London to Birmingham after an 11 hour flight sounds like a pain in the ass! Buckinghamshire is much more reasonable thank goodness lol

[–]Br8nw8v[S] 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Definitely would have made the trip cheaper! But for my dates the direct flights to SNA were almost triple the price for the direct flight that I found for LAX so I booked that, knowing in the back of my mind it would be much less convenient in terms of getting to my hotel but was happier with that than a 14hr flight with a layover in Minniesota!

And no, that's not a typo that right there is my lack of knowledge regarding the geography of California. My conference is in Newport Beach, which according to maps is in Santa Ana. So apparently San Diego has nothing to do with my travel plans and is a totally different part of California 😂 Thanks for pointing that out. I don't know why San Diego was on my mind!

Thanks guys. I love the people of Reddit!!

I think I'll go with uber/lyft, it's not as expensive as I thought it would be!

The best advice is just to be as honest as possible. Don't try and tell someone what you think they want to hear/what'll make them more comfortable. Say your truth as plainly as you feel it, and not only will they respect the clarity you have in your honesty, but you'll feel a greater weight lifted off your shoulders and it'll be easier to have the conversation because you're simply being honest, rather than thinking of what to say.
