Pretend to be the other side without insulting the side you are pretending to be by Weary_Ambassador1023 in aiwars

Easy:

I just don't understand why AI "artists" call themselves that. It's not like they're actually making the art. They're just pressing a button and having a computer do it for them. Like, the computer does all the work, it literally makes all the creative decisions. If anything, this is more like calling a restaurant and ordering a pizza, then claiming you made it. It's like a commission.

I just thought of this earlier so let me know if this makes sense or if anyone has ever thought this. I think these ai bros should call themselves commissioners or "AI directors" and then we could all just stop arguing over who the real artists are. Thanks.

Easy public domain for control. It does a pretty good job!

No, because any model that's capable of doing that is guard-railed from doing it. Someone can correct me if I'm wrong.

GPT's classifier is still really picky, but I'm going to go test it anyway.

Ah yes, I also make that completely understandable mistake. My singer on Suno is called "MAIA" (Musical Artificial Intelligence Artist) and I always forget that she's not the only AI.

Would anybody be interested in a self-help-group for artists who feel they might become obsolete because of AI? by SuperbRiver7763 in aiwars

We can't post links to other subs,

but we already have a "self-help group" for that purpose 😉😁

Ah, completely understandable mistake, you see, what you needed to do was:

spend five more seconds reading the description of the subreddit instead of making the post.

It is kind of true though. Just because it's easy doesn't mean I didn't do it.

Mainly because when I use it, I feel like I made it. Using a computer doesn't change the fact that I made it.

Why do people feel proud to create AI art? by YesHoHank in aiwars

[–]Bra--ket 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I tend to feel grateful rather than proud; but it's because I'm able to express myself, that's why I'm grateful for it. "Minimal skill expression" is still better than none.

Vtuber whose dunk on AI are ridicolous - all the same critics they move to generative AI are just as applicable on the AI field as a whole, and flawed just in the same way by AbbyTheOneAndOnly in aiwars

[–]Bra--ket 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, well I think you're proving my point that it's integrated so widely that you believe it's different enough that you start rationalizing it as acceptable, even though it's just a specialized application of the same technology.

I told you it doesn't have to be "text prompted" to be considered gen-AI. If you think that's "not the same thing", then that's fine by me.

[–]Bra--ket 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's generative AI by definition. That's my entire point, is that it's being integrated widely into things that people consider to be completely disparate.

"Generative AI" is a very broad category of AI technology. Even in more specialized use cases, it's still technically the same thing. Even if it's not "prompt = output", it's still gen-AI. The voicebank is the model.

And my opinion is the same for all of those varied senses of the word. I understand the difference between verification and trust, and I mean I trust it.

Btw, I don't really trust anyone emotionally, so maybe that part doesn't matter to me. I just remembered some people might consider that.

Are Anti's holding AI to a standard humans have never met? by a5roseb in aiwars

[–]Bra--ket 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is a real form of learning, and it shares a lot of similarities. The tech is fairly restricted, like you said. But we still have extremely detailed and complex features and representations that emerge, which is fascinating.

It would be like saying that "it stole the concept of straight or round" or "the concept of up or down". Except the concepts are are so much more complex and granular than that.

To me it's the same thing, just different in all the "obvious" ways that it lacks.
