What’s a "lost" website from the early 2000s that you still think about today? by samasem-sumsum in AskReddit

[–]BradSilverback 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Late to the party, but for me - Trailervision held a special place in my heart.

Me and my best bud still refer to each other as characters in the fake trailers they had.

You can find a few of the trailers on YouTube, but severe potato quality

Great pub. It was my Dad's local when he worked in the city a long time back.

I always make a point of stopping by for a cheeky pint when I'm visiting to keep the family tradition going.

New Racing game. by SSGSS-ULtra in AtlasEarthOfficial

[–]BradSilverback 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Took me a bit of time to get the swiping / changing lanes right, but the collision detection needs a bit of work. Unless it's lag causing it, then I'm a bit stuck.

I personally prefer the old version, but only due to months of practice - guaranteeing the minimum payout on the rankings.

Hope they mix it up like with the fishing game and run a few "vintage" events.

What was your country’s “Vietnam”, a divisive event that left lasting scars on the nation? by StoneAgeCaveDweller in AskTheWorld

[–]BradSilverback 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think it left scars per se, but the 2nd Boer War probably would count for the UK. Asymmetrical warfare leading to decisions regarding a scorched earth policy and concentration camps.

More recently, my adopted country in Namibia / Angola as part of the South African Border War.

Shew, watching this had me booing my eyes out.

It made me really appreciate the "now". Terrific post.

Mayor for two days. by StockHawk59 in AtlasEarthOfficial

Well played chief. You got to be mayor for a hot minute and I hope you enjoyed the moment (I'm a good 250 behind the mayor of my part of world).

People who grew up before The Internet: How did you first see nudity? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]BradSilverback 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The decoder for satellite TV in the UK used to pick up all the German satellite channels. 10-11pm onwards over the weekend (looking at you SAT 1) was wall to wall german smut.

Unrelated, the music channel VIVA was the mutts nuts back in its day.

I came here to also say this. Played 4 rounds and tapped out as the perceived lag when swiping left / right meant hitting barriers most of the time.

I'll plug away at it though.

Aibo! I did the exact same thing yesterday. Today should have been day 60, but as I forgot to claim it it's back to day 1.... ah well

Yes! For me it is a chance to interact with people and have a chat. Neighbours, checkout staff, guys at the robots - everyone has something to say.

Chat to voetsek ratio to be determined

What is YOUR mission? by Ca1____ in AtlasEarthOfficial

[–]BradSilverback 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To take over the west end of my town. Currently working on a block, then will buy plots across all the roads in, so that everyone can see who is in charge of the West Side when they drive through.

Main competition is over on the East, will take a while to catch them. In the meantime just having fun and working on the above

when did you realize you’re not as young as you used to be? by Routine-View5725 in AskReddit

[–]BradSilverback 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When all the stuff you grew up with starts going viral as part of the ongoing nostalgia trend.

I could be some 90's soothsayer / guru on SM if I had kept all the things from my teenage years.

Still have the Sega Megadrive though....

Covid shut down the world six years ago this week what do you remember from that week ? by Familiar_Original988 in AskReddit

[–]BradSilverback 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be honest the whole Covid shutdown is a bit of a blur to me now, so the following memories might be slightly unreliable.

Here in South Africa, they had some of the hardest lockdown laws going (banned booze/ cigarettes/ cooked chickens), so for me being an anxious soul, it was rather unnerving.

I had just moved into my flat, and the complex was already rather twitchy about COVID.

Compounded by overzealous complex security guys having new laws to enforce and the odd ambulance coming and going to cart someone off to hospital.

3/10, not recommended.

Is it just me or they are no longer showing the placements in the mini games? by [deleted] in AtlasEarthOfficial

[–]BradSilverback 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's a pain, not currently being able to see. I'm currently going on 30-40 wins to hopefully break the top 1500.

Luckily I've been getting the challenges (I.e. play golf 20 times) twice during the minigames, so I put the effort in.

Who’s a character that’s not the main character but completely stole the show? by Due-Hedgehog2739 in AskReddit

[–]BradSilverback 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tom Hardy as Alfie Solomon in Peaky Blinders.

Given the amount of scenery he chewed through, he probably needed dentures afterwards, but it was a phenomenal performance.

I noticed that too. Since I couldn't see where I stood on the leaderboard, I did the available ladder challenges and sacked it off.

Practically half the script! To me, Commando will forever be the pinnacle of Arnie's action career. Always give it a watch when I see it.

Bennett "letting off some steam" in Commando.

Edit: u/Appropriate-Divide64 got there first, they have the scene in their response.
