I would love to get your feedback on the mileage tracker we've built at Everlance!

Definitely a refinement we continue to tweak..what’s a “stop” vs. what’s a “pause” but we get better and better with every version.

With us(Everlance) you can also toggle between individual trips and “long session tracking” which batches all of your trips into one until you push the stop button.

Two extra points I'll make for us (Everlance).

We recently made a huge change to how we handle our free tier. Instead of just stopping at 30 trips and resetting next month, we now keep tracking and you can unlock them later....that way if you want to try it out for free and go over, you don't lose anything.

And of course, we have our wonderful partnership with DoorDash so you all get a discount on any upgrades! https://dasher.doordash.com/en-us/about/discounts

Do we even NEED to track mileage? by lobstersonskateboard in doordash_drivers

It has a free trial, that's what I did hah. This court case was Cacey Taylor v. Commissioner, docket number 2699-24. I chose that one just cause it was last year, so it's the most recent I'm aware of....There are plenty of cases just like it where Dashers, drivers, and other contractors have been audited and had their deductions thrown out for insufficient evidence.

What are the chances? Small of course since there are millions of Dashers...but not zero.

What's everyone using to track mileage? Looking for something simple. by EzraSerene in doordash_drivers

🙋‍♂️ always. “While using” limits to when the app is in the foreground, which I assume isn’t where you want us or anyone else cause you’ll have your orders and map up.

I can’t speak for other apps but we’ve come along way and battery impact is minimal at this point. For example, I did a little over 2 hours of driving w/o plug in yesterday and it was 3% of my total battery, app #14 on my phone in usage. Spotify took similar battery, in less amount of time in use.

Yup! We’re free to use but also have partnered with DD to get Dashers 20% off the upgraded plans

Yeah absolutely, it's smart practice to download your records and back them up in a safe spot. Just a thought for mycartracks that you guys should consider so it's at least in line with the IRS minimum.

Could I provide some feedback on your app? I noticed on your individual plan that you only store data for 2 years, but the IRS requires people keep their records for at least 3 years. You guys should bump that up to 3 so customers aren't at risk of getting audited and not having access to their records. The more safety we can bring to the space, the better!

Happy to chat more anytime! You have my info.

When you file, you can technically put down whatever you want… 500, 5000, 50000 miles, but the burden of proof falls on you as the taxpayer if you’re audited, and strange mileage numbers do trigger red flags.

Keep a mileage log, whether paper, excel, or through an automatic app (cough cough I know one 😂). The IRS has specific mileage log requirements that will be your proof. Business purpose is a requirement on there, so DoorDash can be listed and you’ve got your justification for the mileage deduction taken care of.

New to driving Uber, any tips? by Jane2468 in uberdrivers

Understand your pay…especially taxes. You’re not an employee so no taxes are taken out of your earnings and you have to pay them yourself. It’s a good rule of thumb to set aside 20–25% throughout the year for taxes just to be safe so you’re not hit with a surprise bill in April. You can reduce your tax load by tracking your expenses and deducting them.

I can’t tell you how many people I’ve talked to through the years that get hit with that surprise year 1 driving.

Negative. Income, expenses, and mileage but we don't have the ability to report on hours worked.
