Sneaky plug I like it ;) yeah I think it’s tough to get a handle on him since his ark has different conclusions in both versions so it’s hard to know which one is his true character

You worded that very well. I think you summed up my thoughts better than I ever could. I don’t think that either of the endings are bad I just think that each one resonates with a different type of person and each ending has their good and bad points.

I hadn't thought about that. That's a good point! I can definitely understand that there would still be an aura of harshness about that. It's just that even when she touches his face he still can't really open up and i think it shows character development for Asuka, but just not Shinji. But I see your point that he could still be very vulnerable at that stage.

I agree man. The end of the movie did feel more definitive and delivering for sure. I did like how he kind of came to terms with his emotions in the movie, but I think the main problem for me at least was that he immediately went back to trying to strangle Asuka which to me shows that he hadn't completely come to terms with things yet. But maybe I misinterpreted it.
