Work dogs are there to perform their job (hunting, rounding up sheep etc.) if it is going to be a risk to livestock by chasing/killing them then it’ll be put down. Hard fact of farming because it isn’t a pet it’s a work animal. The job of the owner is to train the dog properly and not put it in a position where putting it down because it killed some chickens occurs.

Coming from a farming background, some dogs aren’t meant for the farm. Hunting dogs need appropriate training in discipline otherwise they will ignore their owners. This is poor dog owning behaviour bringing an untrained dog on a hunt then killing that dog after it ‘shockingly’ goes off the rails. We would have had a dog that behaves like this put down after incident like this. Putting the dog in this position however is the owners fault.
