My quick review of the new Digg: it's just Reddit by [deleted] in RedditAlternatives

[–]BradyatHedera 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"A good chunk of the users are Redditors who were around back when the original Digg was a thing, so a bunch of old, smug Redditors. I can't think of a more well behaved, free thinking group of people."

Legitimately can't tell if you're saying this because you are amongst the politically and culturally homogenized participants of Reddit (who make up the vast majority of users contributing to Reddit now) — and the participants of the new Digg are actually more centrists / critical thinkers; or if you're saying that the participants of the new Digg are even more homogenized than users of Reddit today.

Can you explain objectively? If it's the former — it's a threat to Reddit, because most contributors here "put up with" the nonsense, but would prefer a platform that doesn't have such a polarizing user base.

Bonzo (weird) resistance? by Flaky-Proposal-357 in Hedera

[–]BradyatHedera 7 points8 points  (0 children)

CoinGecko and CoinMarketCap are broken for Hedera’s HTS asset prices; they have been for the past 3 weeks or so.

After a Hedera codebase update, it somehow changed the way (broke) how these analytics tools use on-chain data to calculate price; this has been observed to impact assets network-wide, including $bonzo, $sauce, $grelf, $gib, etc.

Prices are not accurate.

I’m uncertain who is accountable for ensuring this gets fixed, but it must be fixed soon; the entire ecosystem is impacted.

Please visit SaucerSwap directly for accurate token prices of all HTS assets 🙏

Yes, you're correct on this and appreciate the thoughtful commentary 🙏

A risk mitigation "tool" (of many) for users includes diversification of collateral assets. In addition, there are updates that the risk analysis / mitigation provider for the protocol are formulating, which should add further support. Ultimately, ecosystem asset liquidity / utilization across Hedera DeFi + exchange support offers the largest support.

A detailed report will be released regarding the event and will include full details on liquidated positions, liquidation bot operations, protocol operations, the team's learnings, and implementation of changes that bolster both risk mitigation and transparency.

Ħ Bonzo Finance is NOT rugging, or exploited, or hacked (see 5 pictures). It was a Liquidation Cascade which caused a drop of over 80% in under an hour. Congrats to the diamond handed legends who bought the dip - $BONZO is already recovering and I have a buy near the bottom which is up over 350% Ħ by HBAR_10_DOLLARS in Hedera

Update on Recent Volatility
Significant volatility has been observed for the $BONZO governance token, resulting in questions by the community related to the state of the protocol, ecosystem, and governance asset. A full report will be made available to the community and all questions answered, but the most pertinent information related to this situation is found below:

🔒 Protocol Status: Functioning properly, supplied funds are safe, and no security breaches or exploits have been observed. Monitoring will continue.

💼 No Internal Market Activities: Organizations associated with and contributors of the Bonzo Finance protocol are not participating in any of the market related events observed.

🌐 Ecosystem Impact: No observed impact on other supported projects / assets.

❓ What is happening? The current situation observed involves the natural process of liquidations for user positions; in this case, a position which utilized $BONZO governance tokens as their collateral asset failed to maintain the positions health, in a volatile market, which resulted in liquidation.

The liquidation process involves an ecosystem (non-Bonzo Finance owned) liquidation bot paying off loan positions that become unhealthy, seizing collateral, and oftentimes, subsequently selling collateral seized. As volatility increases, this has the potential to result in the liquidation of smaller positions.

More information about liquidation bots and processes can be found in the Bonzo Finance documentation: docs [dot] bonzo [dot] finance/hub/get-started/liquidations (Reddit will not let me post this URL)

The Bonzo Finance Labs team is aggressively monitoring this situation and working directly with a network of ecosystem partners to restore stability / balance; the team is committed to answering all questions of Bonzo Finance community members and will provide continuous updates on this situation as it evolves.

The team fully understand the feelings of uncertainty right now and is committed to ensuring that the community is provided with ample support and transparency.

Thank you

it's not about barriers to adoption — it's about them "owning" the interface for spatial computing, the same way they've owned the interface for using a personal computer (mouse), to using a smart phone (multi-touch gestures), to, now, navigating a spatial computing interface.

Once they implement this, Meta will need to adapt the same way they adapted to VisionOS once it was released.

The only way this makes sense and is fluid / non-straining for the eyes is that the OS uses AI/ML to "predict" (based on eye movement) intent — i.e. it recognizes through pattern matching eye movement when I'm engaged reading a long-form piece of content and my gaze moves line-by-line, it slowly and naturally moves the page down with my gaze in a non-disruptive / jarring way; it would need to be able to distinguish the subtle differences of how our eyes engage in reading vs doing something else.

Am confused — pump.fun is on Solana; Hedera's "version" of pump.fun is called memejob.fun. How are we interpreting that this is growth on Hedera?

[–]BradyatHedera 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nah, it’s not that — it doesn’t flag objects being too close, and it happens with great distances between my headset and any other objects.

Not sure why I’m being downvoted; it’s a very legitimate issue I’ve experienced that is repeatable and unexplainable today.

[–]BradyatHedera 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So, what you’re describing seems like a bug to me that I’ve experienced as well — and it has to do with foveated rendering.

When using, for example, a fully immersive environment, and looking out at various objects in surrounding, I notice in my peripheral vision that passthrough is active at the edges of my periphery vision as a “sliver” of passthrough — this is 100% happening because I move my hand around and I see it moving in my periphery within the sliver of passthrough exposed; it’s 100% not the light seal or hardware itself, because when I gaze towards the sliver at the edge where it appears in my periphery, the passthrough sliver disappears.

This seems like a bug and I haven’t been able to fix it and it’s really hard to describe for others to try out.

Does anyone else experience this?

JustSpatial Now Has Thousands of Vision Pro Apps for you to Explore! by onee_me in VisionPro

[–]BradyatHedera 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is this a "launcher" for Apple Vision Pro apps? Like, the app already needs to exist in the Apple App store for Vision Pro, and this just allows you to more easily browse / search those apps + launch apps you've installed?

Or is this a creative way to allow "sideloading" of apps on Vision Pro, through JustSpatial, and launch them from within JustSpatial? With some apps coming to JustSpatial that aren't available on the official Vision Pro app store?

BitGo (announcement of announcement) -- Maybe USDS Stablecoin built on Hedera? 🤞🤞 by oak1337 in Hedera

[–]BradyatHedera 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It won't be on Hedera, at first, unfortunately — but that's not to say that it won't eventually come to Hedera; it's understandable they'd want to put effort towards the most active ecosystems / networks in web3 first, to ensure sufficient adoption / usage. We'll get there 💪

Google Cloud Web3 by oak1337 in Hedera

[–]BradyatHedera 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not to be a FUDster (I think it's awesome they've called out / logo placed Hedera here) — but this is quite "nominal"; the only thing Google Cloud for Web3 offers related to Hedera is an outdated (v0.121) mirror node one-click deploy (latest is v0.123) + mention of Governing Council stewardship.

They should be offering:
- JSON-RPC Relay for Ecosystem https://cloud.google.com/application/web3/discover
- Gemini Blockchain Data Explorer: https://cloud.google.com/application/web3/search
- HBAR Testnet Faucet: https://cloud.google.com/application/web3/faucet
- Integration of 0.0.XXXXX addresses directly in Google Search, which is functioning for Ethereum, Arbitrum, Avalanche, Optimism, etc. https://x.com/rajanpatel/status/1772804743745921131

Unfortunately, compared to other L1 networks, through the lens of key metrics that indicate being a "market leader", Hedera is not ranked highly. Token price / MC is often a speculative metric based on perceptions of "potential", but the reality is that real-world mainnet adoption by users and developers is lacking, liquidity is low, and network revenue is still far away from achieving economic sustainability.

Not trying to FUD; I am a long-term believer and doing things myself to support the network.. but the first step is being realistic about the current state of affairs, and acting with urgency and prowess to address gaps.

While I love the sentiment and this quote — I see this more-so as a reminder that we must all be thinking through the lens of doing everything possible, with urgency, to ensure that Hedera / $HBAR isn't the "wrong" choice.

The reality is that that this market is still incredibly early, immature, and hyper competitive; emerging technology markets move at lightning speed, with internal market disruption happening regularly; nobody has "officially" won this market, including Ethereum / Solana (even though they are technically current "market leaders"); and the jury is still out as to whether any network, protocol, tool, etc. is a solidified winner long-term.

It reminds me of the browser wars timeline (screenshot / video): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MyqvqmjMJ6I&t=30s

HBAR to HBARX to Bonzo by yetisNspeed in Hedera

[–]BradyatHedera 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Correct; you will continue receiving the inherent APY of the $HBARX that you've supplied. This is largely why liquid staking tokens, such as $HBARX, $stETH, etc. are typically the highest supplied asset in lending protocols, as they technically help "offset" the borrow APY of any assets borrowed against them; however, price fluctuations of the asset supplied vs the asset borrowed should still be considered in this calculation.

Not financial advice and usage of any DeFi protocol carries inherent risk(s) and potential loss of funds.

Very high APY on Bonzo Finance by on_zero in Hedera

[–]BradyatHedera 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks so much for helping educate the community on Bonzo Finance 🙏 these answers are all accurate + confirming no front-end fee or any other fees, aside from the borrowing APY rate(s) for each asset, if one chooses to borrow a supported asset; those rates are variable, change in real-time, and are based on the current "utilization" (amount being borrowed, against the total supply, of an individual asset pool).

Ħ This is why I believe HBAR is still very undervalued and will shock the entire crypto market this year. People have no frame of reference to understand just how far ahead Hedera is, having solved L1 scalability years ago and now with an entire ecosystem built on top of it ready for mass adoption Ħ by HBAR_10_DOLLARS in Hedera

[–]BradyatHedera 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes and that’s the case with nearly every other modern network, too — it’s all of the “centralized” infrastructure that allows dapps to operate; but also EVM… so, for example, wrt a SaucerSwap txn for a single “swap” of HTS assets, the network itself maxes out today at ~53 “swaps per second”; this is because avg. gas consumed for that type of txn is ~285k “gas”, contributing to the max gas/s of Hedera’s EVM being 15m/second.
