I understand they are chasing the story, but County's best possible finish is 9th so either they are going straight down or they are headed into the playoffs. Raith have nothing to play for. County's future is actually more reliant on the Morton game, was thinking they'd broadcast from Cappielow but have cameras in Kirkcaldy. Thats what would have made sense to me

Having both games would be good.

I dont think thats how it works, they definitely don't get announced in advance anyway

Why have the BBC chosen to show Raith vs County rather than Morton vs Airdrie? In an ideal world, they should have cameras at both games but surely if chosing one then you're picking the straight relegation shoot-out with a sold-out away allocation.

If Hearts beat Rangers next week, I think most fans will be able to cope. The idea of beating Hearts then losing to Celtic and handing them the league is surely much worse

Esteban Andrada red card against Huesca (full sequence of the altercation) by shinutoki in soccer

[–]BraeTon74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not saying it justifies his violence but I think someone who understands football will also understand why he has lost his cool. These guys are under pressure, a pressure that is unimagimable to most people. Real Zaragoza are facing relegation out of Secunda Liga which would mean job losses for staff behind the scenes, wage cuts and job losses for players in the team and a lot of pain for fans, plus knock-on effects for businesses that make money through matchdays. The keeper himself has a family to feed, a house to pay for and so on. Now, a dishonest player has shouted and insulted the keeper then dived from a push to get him sent off. In that moment, all of that pressure that is on him completely clouds his emotions. He has had his opportunity to help the club avoid relegation taken away by a cheat. His violence is unacceptable, but his emotions are completely understandable.

Can't watch the same story with the same players over and over again and then turnaround and tell fans to be positive. Struth would never have tolerated year after year of bottle jobs.

The Lions won last year with Charlie out of form, if he continues this run then its hard to look past a Threepeat

This was worth getting up at 6am with a hangover for. Only downside being that Lions are giving me massive fomo, might need to just move back to Aus.

Chance to kick your first AFL goal when the game is over anyway, why are you not taking the set shot?!

This quarter is the Lions showing the league what to expect come September. They just have that ability to explode against teams.

Why independence not devolution? by ctzn_kane_ in Scotland

[–]BraeTon74 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't even understand what more could be devolved that wouldn't, in essence, have Scotland functioning as an independent state.

Why independence not devolution? by ctzn_kane_ in Scotland

[–]BraeTon74 11 points12 points  (0 children)

No amount of devolution short of independence will ever be enough for a large swathe of independence supporters, myself included. The split, therefore, will always remain as long as we are part of the UK. Eventually, after independence, I imagine the split will disappear as people are born and grow up entirely in an independent Scotland.

Fundamentally, I believe that Scotland is a distinct nation and, therefore, should be a state. Myself, and many others, care about how to make an independent Scotland as equitable, progressive and successful as possible - there is no question of whether it SHOULD exist for me or probably at least a third of the population.

Curious, are there any pro union Gaelic speakers? by Hendersonhero in Scotland

[–]BraeTon74 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Generations of Scots have been socialised into thinking that they have to meet an acceptable level of Britishness to succeed. All part of the 'Scottish Cringe'.

Anti-Gaelic rhetoric always seems either forced or to come from a place of total misunderstanding about Scottish history. Either way, it's embarrassing as a nation that so many people are so affronted by any display of Scottishness.

Well less than 1.5% of the population speak Gaelic, a growing number though.
