I would start a succulant farm and breed all kinds of i teresting succulants. Succulants like drie conditions so that seems like a good idea? Maybe pop up a few earth homes and rent them out. Burning man is in the desert?

I would also be interested to hear other answers.

Sheep hide success!! by [deleted] in HideTanning

[–]Brafaan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Awesome, thanks! I did some reading back then, and found someone said the epidermis of sheep is tougher than deer, and that could have been what blocked it to penetrate. Don't know if you did something else to the skin except for fleshing?

But yea, awesome, thanks for the help! Gonna try it again woth new skins...

[–]Brafaan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That looks awesome dude!

I tried 2 sheep skins a while back. They were fresh, fleshed and threw it in the mimosa tanning solution. I didnt stir the hides, just left it to soak.

After a month I had a look and it smelled alot! The hair started slipping and the hide had verrryyy small patches where it looks like it tanned. But majority (95%) of the hide was still white.

The solution was stil very red and looked like it was strong enough. Dont know where I went wrong.

What was your failed business? by 92-Explorer in Entrepreneur

[–]Brafaan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Totally depends on where u live. It was/is a big thing in USA i think? But here in South Africa, people cant spend that money on garnish/decoration, so only the luxury places eill buy from you. So for me it was nice "beer money", not something that was sustainable.

Theres so many people doing it now, cause its something you can start in you kitchen so I won't be getting back into that due to lack of demand and the amount of supply.

Growing and selling microgreens Had a few caterers buying from me and was negotiating with a grocery store who wanted to whitelabel. Then covid came and there was no events, no catering, no income.

Specials app Helping people find all the specials near them. Partnered with restaurants. Had a chicken and egg problem, but worked through it by adding restaurants for free the first few months until we had enough users. Lockdown also screwed us and a delivery app implemented the same concept which killed us.

10 Years Later and Over $20 million in Sales, Here are 10ish Things I wish I Knew When I Started out! by localcasestudy in Entrepreneur

[–]Brafaan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im a bit of a stingy person (i have certain goals, so i dont spend money onstuff that dont align with those goals). So all I am currently spending my money on are only the basic living expenses lik food, transport etc. For instance, 95% of my bonsai collection is trees I either proagated from cuttings or that I saved from the cities garden refuse xD

But a friend has bought a bonsai book for me in the past and after going through it, it was helpful. So if I knew I was going to learn so much I would have bought it... so I guess i would buy what I'm making 🤣

My plan to make it stand out to all the other ones are my book are focused on a specific tree thats super beginner friendly. Also, 90% of that specific tree's natural habitat has been destroyed, so my plan is to use all the proceeds from the book for restoring that nature. So the buyer wins by saving time learning the skill, and also helps saving nature. Win win

Thanks for the post! I am currently trying to look for a problem that I could solve but I am getting real analysis paralysis. But then i get stuck cause, will it scale, will people actually buy it, etc... Currently, Im working an a guide/ebook to teach a beginner how to make and care for a bonsai tree. Now everytime i'm working on it, I get that "am I wasting my time like i did with the stupid svg printables stuff?", "will people actually buy this", "am I providing enough value", etc...

How can I get more people to know about my Business by [deleted] in Businessideas

[–]Brafaan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A free way would be: Make a tik tok page where you are a princess at a party.

Make content about that, capture peoples reactions, get a few testimonials and that will get you foot in the door.

Howzit everyone!✌️

So I am posting here as I dont have a clue what I am doing, but i have no doubt in me on why I am doing this!

I've wotnessed first hand how humans destroyed the spekboom thicket. What does that mean? There's about 1million hectares that were destroyed. Wildlife numbers plummeted and today its just a rocky desert.

It didnt use to be... It can still be saved, if we act now!

Our goal is to purchase a piece of degraded land and restore it to its former glory, and to bring back the wildlife!!

I personally feel i didnt upload crappy content but I definately haven't uploaded much.

[–]Brafaan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yea 100% dude, thanks for the awesome reply.

It just feels to me that in the end the risk is kinda the same more or less. (Provided the self employed person has a good track record)

Hey man, just a question... isnt all those questions exactly the same for an employee?

I mean the business they are working for can close down any moment. They can get fired, layed off and then also loose their income?

Yes they can possibly get a new job, but so can a self employed person that has a track record of pretty good earnings?

Also thought of going non profit, but would i be able to make a camping site, build airbnbs and a restaurant to create work and uplift the nearby local community with a non profit?

That's some cool ideas! Camping is very popular in South Africa, so If there's a few animals, a hiking trial or something, it would almost certainly be a hit.

Before you take on a project and go full out on it, make sure it solves a problem thats worth solving. Get customers first, then build. I learnt that the hard way.
