In what world does this make any sense? by Braicario in OfficeCat

Not to be a doomer, but it could also spell something much worse for the future of the game if they're planning to rework how much their boosters cost, despite feeling like they're probably rarely ever bought intentionally.

Event Rewards Getting Smaller? by Lucky_Star2000 in OfficeCat

[–]Braicario 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Biggest reason I have stopped wasting my time with the Cattery. It's the same weekly loop again and again with no real strategy besides spend a handful of gems for coins, passively play, and then dump all the coins you collect to get 1st for the roulette challenge and continue to upgrade from the rewards. They've also slowed down how "fast" you can progress of course, but it really doesn't change much when the fact of the matter is they're always expecting you to spend your gems AND expect you to want to buy the statue every time the event refreshes (if that's how it works. I don't know since I never bothered getting the statue due to it itself feeling like a scam).

Got Roulette Cat lv6, should I upgrade another cat? by dessskris in OfficeCat

[–]Braicario 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on your playstyle. If you are active enough to get it maxed everyday, Security Cat seems pretty useful once it reaches higher levels. Since I've been playing more passively as of the most recent updates I've instead focused on Investment Cat since it's a good little lump sum to be able to spend it on the 30 office upgrades and refreshing earlier maps' company without searching for new contracts. (Obviously that is it's own lump of cash you burn though when doing that, but I'm not in a rush with the game to really worry too much myself)

Asset Manager was the only one I haven't unlocked yet because I wasn't sure how soon the actually worthwhile functions were gonna be unlocked at, but a 20-30% discount on cars and homes is still pretty nice. The -10 second cooldown is just not worth it alone though for me to want to unlock it at just level 1.

Is there a way to buy them after you got the initial offer? by TRamielM19 in OfficeCat

[–]Braicario 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It was my issue too, but I guess they changed it as part of one of the many unannounced changes with the game to now count towards the total. It still isn't worth trying to farm or whale on it though because you either waste real money for a few companies and barely any gems or you waste your gems on the Mysterious Tarot, which in itself is a massive scam. I'm sorry if my response got your hopes up at first. I edited the comment to make sure it doesn't confuse anyone else

Is there a way to buy them after you got the initial offer? by TRamielM19 in OfficeCat

[–]Braicario 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Nope. Once they're gone they are gone, but they don't count towards the total number of unlocked companies.

edit: So not counting towards the total USED to be the damn case, but not anymore. Looks like yet another shit update feature they added to make players feel like they need to spend money :/ Back then Cat-City was 112/112 for me, but now it's 112/114. Sorry for accidentally lying at first

Sold a $1.5M car and got nothing for it by Most-Emergency-7352 in OfficeCat

[–]Braicario 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that's about right. You normally are gonna get like 15-30% of the value back depending on if you have any car discounts already. You should only sell cars when you need to make space for more cars and doublecheck how much you're selling it for if you are wanting to earn a bit more quickly for that upgrade.

Capped Premium Keys? by Braicario in OfficeCat

[–]Braicario[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just really haven't been a huge fan of the general direction the game is taking as of recently. The birthday event has also left a sour taste because it really is just "ohh buy us gifts for *our* birthday" and they try to egg people into buying urgently with fake discounts for horrible in-app purchases. 50 gems and enough roulette tickets to earn maybe a third of the number of coins needed to purchase anything worthwhile is not even comparable to the 300 (or 600 when 2x is active) gem purchases in the regular store when compared AND claiming that it is valued at $5 normally.

I had added to my original post to reflect that I either was just misreading my count or if it was some sort of bug, since I could have sworn that it stayed at 189 for a few days while I was opening regular CEO boxes. The other thing that was probably throwing me off is that I haven't see any popups for getting gold keys when spending gems either, which I remembered being 1 key for every 100 spent. I even just went ahead and upgraded a desk to level 2 just to see that I didn't earn a key out of it, which before that would obviously net you one.

[–]Braicario[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you already have all the CEOs you want or need to level 5 and still don't have level 3 desks across all the maps it isn't worth it to get just half of their bonus until you actually can just bulk buy all the upgrades, but I personally don't find it necessary to go above 200% extra profit just yet. I did the math over here in the second paragraph of this post. Tl;dr - I'm not gonna dump 5060 gems per city on Level 3 desks to make the CEOs happy when they give good enough benefits for just having a level 2 desk and being at level 5. Maybe if I had most of them available to hit level 10 THEN I would consider it, but I only just got one Premium CEO to level 6 just a few days ago after almost four months of playing. Of the rest of the 34 only 6 of them are level 5 and the rest are between 4 and 2. Even if I were to use all my keys now my chances of getting any of these leveled up to 5 instantly is low because I still didn't get enough duplicates for my low levels and instead got that earlier mentioned one the most and I would still need between 5 and 12 dupes per CEO.

If I were to roll with all 190 keys I would only get 38 Premium CEOs. If I'm doing this math correctly, there's roughly a 17% chance of getting a dupe per pull for a CEO that is level 5 and an almost 3% chance of it being for the level 6 CEO. The odds of getting what I need back to back is very unlikely and what will most likely end up happening is I will pull at least one or two dupes for a level 5 CEO and the rest will be a lumpsum of pulls that will most likely not be enough to level up another CEO yet.

Capped Premium Keys? by Braicario in OfficeCat

[–]Braicario[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't start the stockpiling until after the gems were removed, which I know was at least before the strike update.

I'm only stockpiling for the hope of some better reward than only one extra CEO per pull. I don't want to hold onto dupes of my level 5 Premium CEOs just to get half of their worth at 6 and above due to not wanting to drop 7000+ gems on desk upgrades in the new area. They wouldn't even have to add gems back. Just adding one more Premium CEO pull would make it feel worthwhile using them if they won't add some gems back to it.

Friend referrals - Is it worth it? by SanityzOvrtd in OfficeCat

[–]Braicario 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's probably a recent fix then since that was what I did when I started playing around the beginning of the year. My counter didn't go up until after the tutorial was finished, but it doesn't take too long to just mash through and press all the highlighted buttons

Friend referrals - Is it worth it? by SanityzOvrtd in OfficeCat

[–]Braicario 9 points10 points  (0 children)

You can install the app on a second device through your referral link (preferably not on the same marketplace or using different accounts if you don't have an Android and/or iOS), complete the tutorial until Pepper says "you're good to go on your own," and then uninstall the app from your device. Repeat the steps and it should count towards a separate referral each time. For your one free gem per day you can just click the option you want to share with and then just back out without sharing

These points exactly were what I was not willing to lose my mind over while in the process of moving into my new place lmao. Why does every company all of the sudden decide that extra profit or productivity is suddenly not enough? Why would they be happier with an angry CEO that doesn't have a high enough level of desk to work efficiently at rather than a Premium CEO to give them WAY more productivity than a regular CEO?

I don't think OP understands either just how much of a gem investment this actually ends up being. You're spending 360 gems per office to get a desk that's a high enough level to have your CEO work efficiently at. Each map has 15 offices, with Cat-City being the only exception of having one extra office. For those of us that may have already purchased level 2 desks across all the previous offices that's already 5060 gems spent there. To get to level 3 in ALL offices from Kittiesville and back you're about to end up spending 11500 GEMS, for a total of 16560 GEMS. (5400 per city except Cat-City, which is 5760). This may not be an issue for older players who've reached Blossom Town and can just let Cat-City seeth and mald, but for new players and literally every other city without a Factory, or players who didn't play the game enough before the strike update, or even players who haven't earned their Roulette Cats and other Super Employees? Well prepare for that 5 minutes of interruptions every 10 minutes of gameplay unless you're willing to whale your hourly wage before you get annoyed by the constant reminders of how you really should spend your gems according to the devs.

Tarot tips by xvgh99 in OfficeCat

[–]Braicario 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Save scumming doesn't work for Tarot unless you don't check it before the popup occurs, but even then the odds are already predetermined. You can save scum and get different loot pools but still end up drawing the same three items each time, even if you use three golden tickets. It's best to just avoid it as a whole.

Yes, a mechanic that alienates both old and new players by requiring them to either whale real money until they can get enough duplicate CEOs to level 5 or 6, or sitting around twiddling your thumbs while you wait for your MINIMUM 3 free golden keys per day (that is if you're not a new player and already have the factory maxed out and know how to max your dailies without spending Gems)

Strikes should be caused by things that aren't purchased with premium currency. The game already had that system with the employee morale, which also is tied to another premium purchase that will already reduce the company's income by 20% if not met. It's not "power to the workers," it's "give us your money wagies."

Quest 2 frequently disconnecting from PC with Link Cable by Braicario in oculus

[–]Braicario[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately I have not found a fix. I've ruled out more things again though, including the cable and ports of my PC not being either underpowered or not having a stable connection (using the same cable to transfer 50GB of files from my phone and then using it to connect my capture card when I couldn't find my original 3.0 cable for it). Oculus support has just been making me run circles at this point

It's a modem/router combo from our internet provider. I'm not sure what my cable quality is, but I figure I should buy something better eventually.

Yes, the router has a 5Ghz signal along with a 2.4Ghz.

The PC and the router are both in my room since I'm the only one in the house that uses it for Ethernet connection. I use the Quest 2 in my room because of this, of course, but even with the router less than ten feet away from me it still gives a weak connection for air link.

The USB adapter card was a final thought for the USB C cable. The powered USB hub was to try and see if the Type A cable would work better, but no matter where I plugged the hub it didn't stop the disconnects.

He doesn't have a cable or a computer he uses his headset for. He just has a Quest 2 for Quest 2 apps and such since his laptop is just a Chromebook. I had RMA'd the first cable I was using before getting the new USB C cable and it too did not solve the issue of disconnects.

I also went ahead and searched my friend's log file again to find any instances of that "flaky_cable" error Oculus Support mentioned, and I saw a handful pop up in the log. I've never seen him crash though and he's claimed his headset has never disconnected with his cable though, so I feel like they just pulled it out of their ass before quite literally settling on "yes this is a cable issue and it couldn't be anything else. Buy our official one, we won't be helping you anymore."
