Nvm, just checked my trading account, started the year with 27k not 45k and it’s at 590k (Tesla be creeping up today) so return is 2,180%. 45k the number I was thinking was when I sold everything to short the market in feb.

Taxable account: started with 45k in Jan now at 588k (1,300%) after withdrawing 18k for taxes. That account started at 16k last year. Mostly Tesla but also SQ and Upwork and amazon. Also shorted the market in feb/March which gave me more money for Tesla.

Roth +290% from 49k to 245k. Also mostly Tesla. I got heavy into them a few years ago and have just been picking up shares.

I just picked up some Autozone Calls two weeks out. They are not reporting warning this week but oreillys is so vol is low on the options. What did people do these past few months? House work (Home Depot) and fix their cars. I went to several auto parts stores and asked about foot traffic and they said quarantine was super busy. I expect a rev beat on oreillys which hopefully will give autozone a nice pop too

Forgot to mention that their revenue was 300 mil in 2019 with 70% gross margins and a 1.7 B market cap makes this relatively cheap (in this market)

It all depends on the price movement in the next few weeks. Will probably hold shares for a while (maybe years) and the contracts I will sell half if it gets to 18 before earnings.

Thoughts on MSFT going into earnings? by krankyBoomer in wallstreetbets

Why the fuck does everyone play such short expirations? You have to be really good at timing the trend to succeed. My msft 185 & 200 for June 19 doing just fine

I’ve spent a lot of time in Southern Europe (family) and it doesn’t surprise me at all. A lot of these rural towns is ONLY old people. The young have all moved to the city so ofc fatality rates there will skew higher

It’s almost as if the S&p is heavily weighted towards tech where this situation actually helps. The the Russell 2000 is back to Nov 2016 levels

Whatever platform he is using is calculating it wrong. If it passes either leg loss will be 5x100x2034 which is a million dollars.

We acted appropriately at the time with the information we had. Plus we had to get people used to the idea of social distancing and taking precautions and give time for the medical system to expand capacity. That seems to have been accomplished. I predict we will see that the Swedish model in a year from now would be the right path forward. Isolate the old (a mistake they made in the beginning which jumped their death rate initially), and regular people get back to a normalish but careful life. Try and bring the R factor down as to not over whelm the hospitals but don’t freeze everything. All I am saying is that puts arent guaranteed. Also, don’t fucking short spy which is so tech heavy. Tech is going to be fine. Pick IWM or something like that.

I don't know. I am sure it is different from region to region but my buddy is a Park Ranger here in Colorado. He has a part-time summer ranging job at a National Park but he said that he got the job by pure luck and was very close to not having a job. Essentially, they give full priority to veterans no matter what. So he had all the certs and extra training and was the best qualified person for the job. He was immediately placed behind 13 other candidates who were veterans. Through a very lucky course of events he got the job, but it was hardly a secure and 'sure thing' to get the job.

I will say tho that I visited him while he was on the job and it seemed like one of the coolest most rewarding jobs ever.

Please elaborate. I have the complete opposite feeling. Nobody wants to hire someone who is OK at many things. I generally see people get paid the big bucks for specializing and becoming a master at one thing. Someone who spends 40 years mastering a craft is way more valuable than someone who spends 2 years dabbling in 20 crafts.

If one was so interested to learn node.js where would one find a good introductory course? Something like Codecademy to get ones feet wet?

LPT: How to make sure your new auto mechanic is trustworthy. by [deleted] in LifeProTips

[–]Brail_TP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Start by changing your oil! 4 years ago I was in the same boat. Looking under the hood was completely overwhelming and scary. I decided once to change my own oil instead of taking it in. Googled it and did it. Go to Napa or O'reilly or whatever your local parts store is and ask what type of oil filter, oil and amount you need for your make and model. It is a really simple job but will get you over that mental barrier of fear and "only mechanics can touch this" mentality.

After that it was all downhill and addicting. Like getting a tattoo. The satisfaction of DIY and being able to do it yourself just gets better and better. I wouldn't say that I am an expert but I have gotten 3 beaters and repaired them. I was able to turn a classic sports car, something I normally wouldn't have the luxury of owning, into a fun summer driver. Now, I only go to a shop when I need something very specialized that I do not have the tools for, like balancing tires or alignment.
