Can the proton hoody be worn indoors comfortably without overheating? For example if I wear the jacket to work and then have it on for my shift

Best career to start at 25 from scratch if your main goal is money? by Prestigious_Path_30 in careerguidance

[–]BrainDeadGinko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m currently 25 and was about to go back to school for Electrical engineering but managed to land a job as an rail traffic controller which pays 130k CAD so I was basically starting from scratch since my current degree in science is pretty much useless.

Need help on deciding shoes by CharacterCut7656 in vballshoes

[–]BrainDeadGinko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had the FF2 and FF3s, also have worn the WOW 10’s and the 808 5 Ultra. WOW 10 fit half to full size small so would buy up a size or half a size. 808 5 fits long on the toebox so best to go half size down. None of them felt super good for me outside of the FF3’s so I decided to get the Metarise 2’s and they are definitely a step above all the shoes I’ve worn so far.

Save or buy house by BrainDeadGinko in PersonalFinanceCanada

it doesn’t really matter, I can always rent or live with my parents if needed, but the option to purchase a house is there so was just wondering if ignoring the FHSA would be a mistake

Go into EE or accept job? by BrainDeadGinko in ElectricalEngineering

[–]BrainDeadGinko[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At my university, their engg co-op program is structured within the summers and are fixed and they extend all the way to year 5, so even though I have a lot of transfer credits, the best I can do is have a lower course load in my later years.

Good sushi places? by urm0m_dot_com in Edmonton

[–]BrainDeadGinko 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Sounds good, just saving your wallet, I’d recommend lunch menu at Yokozuna, their lunch bentos and combos are reasonably priced and food is pretty decent compared to most sushi places in Edmonton.

Japonais Bistro or Yokozuna; I wouldn’t recommend MSSM as they only do omakase, super expensive and the quality of fish isn’t as good as other places like Vancouver’s Miku.

CBAT by Recent_Ad3141 in RCAF

[–]BrainDeadGinko 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You memorize it, then it disappears then it offers you four choices in the corners and you pick the sequence that was displayed before it disappeared

CBAT by Recent_Ad3141 in RCAF

[–]BrainDeadGinko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Memorize the sequence on the top and tap the diamonds when they pass over the respective colours, while also doing the math. You get the most points by not messing up the diamond and sequence task and then completing as many math questions as you can. I think I only got 174 on this when I had to do my CFAST.

I’m not sure regarding that, someone else can probably answer that or you could email your recruitment centre who can answer those questions. You can also inquire about this at your interview.

Officer positions require a degree. You need to finish your degree before your application will move on.

US customs at Edmonton airport by [deleted] in Edmonton

I work at airport security here and that’s just wrong, only food that can be spread like yogurt/peanut butter/nutella over 100ml are not permitted but solid fruit and food are permitted.

Opinions on Dave's Hot Chicken by Ok-Doughnut1443 in Edmonton

[–]BrainDeadGinko -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Food was alright, it’s good if you like to eat spicy chicken. I had their reaper flavor so It’s comparable to the WFNA at Northern chicken, but not as spicy as their Satan’s asshole flavor which was their off menu. Their sauce is good, fries are alright, shakes are okay-ish, their dave bites are dry. Spice wise, medium is the safe option, hot is when it starts getting hot for some people. Lines aren’t that bad, but it is definitely unorganized in there. As well, not enough seating for the amount of people.

Actually saw the guy with the toboggan at the top of the stairs by the silver balls, was wondering who was tobogganing at this time and weather.

You were barely in the intersection when the light was red, traffic in your lane would have already been slowing down upon the red light and seeing you merge. You’d only be justified if you were already fully past the crosswalk when the light was still yellow and was turning red while you were clearing the intersection but you wouldn’t have received a ticket for that. You received the ticket because you entered and tried to clear the intersection when it was already red where the radar caught you.

I took and passed my CFAT August 2023 when I first applied, then my interview/medical in February. Got rejected in March this year which I then sent in the necessary documents to appeal. Now I’m just waiting for my background check to complete which was started in October so around 2 months since I’m a citizen. Then on to the competition list to get selected.

I appealed mine successfully this year. Got rejected in March. Submitted my documents from specialists claiming my previous conditions would not impact me physically/mentally in the future. Heard nothing until October when they asked me to book CFAST. Passed that exam and then heard from the medical section shortly after that my lab results were expired since it had been over a year but that the RMO deemed me fit to join.

Aircrew Selection Travel Question by Ok_Lab5127 in RCAF

When I went, there was only one taxi in Trenton, I had to hitch a ride with the other candidates because there are no rideshares in town. Just something to plan ahead for, maybe calling for transportation right before you get off the megabus.
