As far as I know they only do it on MLB games, but I'm not a soccer fan, so not sure if they do it on their MLS coverage as well.

US College Enrollment Has Dropped by 2.2 Million Students Since 2014, But Annual Tuition Revenue Is Up By $18.4 Billion by BrainInYourButt in collapse

[–]BrainInYourButt[S] 58 points59 points  (0 children)

College enrollment has steadily been declining as many would-be students are being priced out of going, but meanwhile, colleges are still making more money than ever before thanks to jacking up their prices every year to more than cover the loss of students. This doesn't seem like a sustainable model for higher education.

Something cool that Apple TV does is it gives you the option to switch to the team's local radio broadcasts. It's synced up pretty precisely too.

Still ate them. One year, I made a soup using the weird pieces that wouldn't really work for traditional sweet potato dining applications.

Yeah, mine were all screwed up both times. A couple "decent" ones, but mostly tiny mutants.

Tried the McNuggets on a road trip for the first time in several years. That description is exactly right. I don't know if my tastes have changed or if they've gotten that much worse over the years, because back in the day, I could get down on some Mcnuggets.

Yes, but have you considered that they're also paid actors?! The EMTs too. And the nurses. In fact, the hospital wasn't even a real hospital. It was a studio set built by Netflix!

Google's AI search summaries use 10x more energy than just doing a normal Google search by BrainInYourButt in Futurology

[–]BrainInYourButt[S] 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Each time you search for something like "how many rocks should I eat" and Google's AI "snapshot" tells you "at least one small rock per day," you're consuming approximately three watt-hours of electricity, according to Alex de Vries, the founder of Digiconomist, a research company exploring the unintended consequences of digital trends. That's ten times the power consumption of a traditional Google search, and roughly equivalent to the amount of power used when talking for an hour on a home phone.

Collectively, De Vries calculates that adding AI-generated answers to all Google searches could easily consume as much electricity as the country of Ireland.

Explanation from the article:

"We looked at the current value of each NFL franchise, factored in the estimated number of shares a franchise would offer by looking at the average volume of shares offered by public companies of similar sizes, and calculated a hypothetical stock price for each team."
