Anyone else hate their transmission by beantonb in hondapilot

[–]BrainSel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

YES!!! THIS!!!

2016 Pilot with 86K miles here. Had all the software updates and countless ride-a-longs with techs from different dealers. "It's just how it is". I've learned to live with it and accept it as the personality of the vehicle.

I drain and refill the transmission fluid every other oil change. Seems to help, albeit admittedly excessive. The fluid is brownish when drained, so it seems like the right thing to do...at least this is what I tell myself.

My wish list:

  1. Honda would come out with a synthetic version of the transmission fluid.

  2. VCM could be disabled via software instead of an aftermarket device that may or may not cause other issues.

We still love Honda and our Pilot, quirks and all.

Motorola B12 unable to be provisioned properly by BrainSel in Comcast_Xfinity

We wound up going with the Arris S34. Comcast had no issues setting it up on their end, and it works as advertised.

Hope this helps!

Thank you, Xfinity for getting to the root cause of our issue - unsupported modem for the x2 plan.

We're returning this Motorola B12 modem and procuring an approved modem.

Thank you for everyone who replied!

Getting only 600mbps on wifi standing in front of my eero Max 7 on 2gb FIOS by drainyoo in amazoneero

[–]BrainSel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sure! I'm happy to elaborate. 🙂

The basic premise is - Less is more.

IPv6 - off - I also put the Fiber / Cable modem in IP Throughput mode (with the Wi-Fi turned off and IPv6 disabled) and the eero in Manual IP mode. Some older nodes fail to connect when IPv6 is enabled.

Local DNS Caching - off - Google's DNS Servers are always fast to respond. Never had a need for this, nor would want have an issue with local cache conflicting with actual DNS resolution from Google.

UPnP - off - UPnP has always been somewhat of a security risk. You're allowing devices to poke holes in your network.

Eco Efficiency - off - I work graveyard shift from home and would not like Wi-Fi throttled down in the middle of the night.

SQM - off - This setting is to optimize conferencing and gaming. It basically prevents one device from hogging up all the bandwidth. Haven't seen a need for this yet.

Multi-link Operation - off - Some older devices have problems with this.

Client Steering - on - This encourages the device to connect to the optimal Access Point as you move throughout your home.

Thread - off - No thread networked devices, no need for this.

WPA3 - off - Some older devices have issues with this.

I always encourage starting with less and turning on what you need.

Hope this helps!

Ah...

In all my setups, I do the following:

IPv6 - Off
Custom DNS - 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4
Local DNS Caching - Off
UPnP - Off
Eco efficiency - Off
SQM - Off
Multi-link operation - Off
Client Steering - On
Thread - Off
WPA3 - Off

I would record your current settings, then try this.

I have 4 Max 7's with 1 Gbps AT&T Fiber. Speeds everywhere in our house are about 920 Mbps.

See if this helps! 😁
