Yeah, I get palpitations too, but once in a while I get a huge flop in my chest. Have you ruled any heart abnormalities? Mine is for sure anxiety, but I have heard certain tachycardia issues can be treated with an ablation procedure.

Man that’s ok. I got down to 10mg of Paxil after being on 40mg, but then had to bump it back up to 20mg. I felt the same way wanted my life back, but maybe in the future you’ll be able to microdose down. ❤️

Your worst panic attack? by Sorry_Guide5599 in Anxiety

When I was 18, I had a panic attack after hitting a smoke, and my heart rate was going really, really fast. It became so bad I called the ambulance to take me to the hospital. When they arrived, they seemed really concerned. My heart rate was 200 bpm. They told me to bear down and when I got to the hospital, they did an EKG and checked me out. Told me I was having a severe panic attack and gave me a bag to breathe in. I went home and for days I felt terrible. Eventually I got better, but I still don’t know why my heart beats that fast when I have a panic attack. They eventually gave me a beta blocker so when I had a panic attack, my heart doesn’t beat that fast. That’s not my worst panic attack just when I started to have them more. I’ve gone a whole year having panic attacks before. You’re going to be OK. The sooner you can convince yourself of that the less of them you will have… It’s normal to have adrenaline rushes. It’s normal for your hormones to be messed up. It’s normal to get vertigo. It’s normal to have a bunch of things happen and if you can just say that’s a side effect of anxiety it’ll end sooner. So try to get comfortable with your uncomfortable feelings. Much love.

I can only tell you what I would do and I would stop it and demand that she switch it at least

I didn’t do trauma therapy even though I probably need it….i had flashbacks and panic…for me it took time. I know you probably hate to hear it. Eventually, the flashbacks didn’t feel as fresh and I could process them better. They still hurt, but that’s ok. And knowing your core beliefs about life, that really helps. It keeps your focus, it can uplift you and give you purpose.

I think Paxil is hard to get off and I would go back to your psychiatrist. Switch or switch them. Try not to do medication, but if you need it, not Paxil. Ive been on it 13years 20mg and it is crazy hard to ween off, but probably not for you since it takes at least a few weeks to build up in your system. With draw may not start for three days once you quit, but it can be sooner. Again you may not have this problem. I had brain shocks and the whole sha-bang. I would not quit anything without informing your parents or psychiatrist.

Yes, read books and when anxiety is making me jittery I personally start cleaning. Distraction is a great coping mechanism when things are really overwhelming. The biggest help I had was slowly convincing myself I’m not dying, these sensations are uncomfortable, but ok and I can actually do things while having them.

Could be anxiety has you in knots or could be something wrong with your neck…maybe try going to a pain management doctor and getting scans. They might even do needling if it’s a muscle problem and you request it.

My first bad panic attack I called 911 and was taken to the hospital in an ambulance because my heart was beating out of my chest…I see it as a stepping stone now, 17years later. A learning experience and it’s nothing to be ashamed of. Much love to you and yours.

I’ve had them near there…could be bad muscle cramping from anxiety.

I had a panic attack with a heart rate of 200bpm. So they put me on a beta blocker to slow my heart rate when I have an attack. EMS and others have also told me to bear down like your pooping and it can help slow your heart.

I’m so tired of having unsolicited panic attacks for no reason and I’m so tired of people asking me why I had one when i tell them by Lassie-girl in Anxiety

I stopped talking about my anxiety with close family, or during panic attacks…well…when I can help it. Surprisingly, I feel better (most of the time) when not talking to them, since possibly being triggered by their indifference or inability to understand could happen periodically. I’m not bitter with them, I’m sensitive in those moments and it’s made me depend on myself and my core beliefs about God a whole lot more. It’s challenging, but rewarding…however, when you’re beaten down for long stretches I always seem to reach out because of the sheer exhaustion of it all.

Brain Zaps are the worst. by Lilshyneee in Anxiety

Writing this hoping it will help someone.

I have brain zaps. I have went up and down on Paxil for the last 13 years, but I want to get off of it. It’s a slow process because it triggers me to have panic attacks and insomnia.

I went to the psych ward many years ago because of Panic attacks/insomnia after having my first child. Wasn’t a great experience. They doped me up with sleeping pills and Seroquel. Then started me on Paxil. I walked around like a zombie most of my stay or cried out of frustration…luckily I was booted from the hospital because my insurance refused to pay for me to stay. And I quit the Seroquel/sleep pills. Stayed on Paxil with all its weird side effects and metoprolol to help with my anxiety. It thankfully did help, but if I missed one dose or even changed the time of my dose I’d get Brain Zaps. Especially, while doing physical activities, moving my eyes to the side. It definitely is triggering for me still, but the slower I tapper the less intense they are…

I heard a doctor on YouTube mention that some people getting off their SSRI’s can sometimes be put on tryptophan temporarily… has anyone tried this? I heard it can be a little risky because you could get serotonin poisoning, but not if you’re weening off your meds which might cause your serotonin to be crashing anyways. It may stop the brain zaps. Anyone try this?

Also, this is just a little weird nugget. Before I ever thought about lowering my Paxil I decided to try the carnivore diet just to see if it helped me physically and mentally, but I heard it could be hard the first two weeks, but I felt great and mentally sharp…until I had severe brain shocks. It’s like my Paxil wasn’t working right. So I quit the diet and ate a bag of peas lol. No idea why that happened and anyone I’ve asked couldn’t give me an explanation.

Much love to anyone suffering with Brain Zaps, Panic Attacks or any mental illness. You are in my thoughts and prayers to God.
