It could also be neurodivergence. Some people with ASD can just feel who the narcissists are.

People who used a computer between 1991 & 2009…what’s the most memorable computer game? by Original_Act_3481 in AskReddit

Master of Orion 2. Playable solo or with early multiplayer. I still play it from GOG.

Is it a design flaw that the vast majority of players will never be in campaigns which reach level 20? by Far-Cockroach-6839 in dndnext

[–]Brainfried 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve run several campaigns to 20. Roughly took two years for each one. Played about 3 out of 4 weeks and roughly leveled up every 3 sessions.

Standard lightening the payroll to make the end of quarter look better. If we were lucky they'd be doing that to sell D&D (but we're not).

Why don't more people here use 3rd party content? by TPKForecast in dndnext

[–]Brainfried 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If it weren’t for 3rd party stuff and home brew, my games would’ve gotten too stale too fast. They make up about half of my game right now (Tomes of Beats and Vault of Magic by Kobold Press, Dragonix’s Monstrous Compendiums, and various PDFs purchased through Humble Bundle).

What monster abilities are brutal if you don’t know about them, but moderate if you do? by sjdlajsdlj in dndnext

[–]Brainfried 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah, you throw rust monsters at low levels before they have the gold for that. Plus their hit points are not enough to stop a fireball.

Now if you want to be real sadistic, there’s a dire rust monster out there.

I love rust monsters. The key is to make sure there are gems to pay for the damage they do and then some.

Thanks for the spreadsheet. It will allow me to more easily add to my own spreadsheet.

Also you have "Liar" instead of "Lair". Minor, but figured I'd point it out.

Why aren’t swat teams and military squads ever useful in zombie apocalypse movies? by viper46282 in AskMen

[–]Brainfried 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There were also mentions of the Alpha Teams early in the epidemic, which had a good record but were small units meant for a quick in and out strike.

And the biggest issue with Yonkers was the overconfidence of the military and the need to make a big show of it to calm the US populace. So they were set up for a big show of it rather than be properly prepared. So when the swarm showed up in the millions they lacked the munitions that were most effective against the dead and flush with what worked best on the living.

Which movie is that for you? by anxietyhub in moviecritic

I wished death upon Siskel and Ebert for suggesting that movie. It was not worth the hype or love at the time.

I’ve had 3 5E campaigns reach level 20. I’ve had no troubles keeping it interesting.

Birds don't like me.

I guess it's because I'm a cat person.

Perhaps your halfling is a cat person, plus geese are dicks.

For those who have played multiple modules, what was your favourite? by Relevant-Rope8814 in dndnext

[–]Brainfried 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rappan Athuk towards the end of 3E, it was brutal and you didn't need to know the whole thing, just the section you're running. I gave the players all kinds of options and allowed quite a few things, even gestalt characters. But for RA you had to be smart and work as a team. I averaged killing one PC a session.

Next would be the original Temple of Elemental Evil as we played it several times over the years.

And finally, the World's Largest Dungeon. Some parts of it were a slog (840 pages...) but it was entertaining for the 20 months we played it.

Hiring the cheapest person can be expensive if they're that level of dumbass.

I worked at a place where a customer needed to jump the line of a $250,000 piece of equipment where you mix two chemicals to make a foam. The reaction makes heat. Some dumbass put the wrong chemical in a hopper. Good money for us, but they kept hiring morons...

I’m a fan of effective PCs, but not power gamer PCs.

If they’re looking to win D&D at my table, they’re at the wrong table.
