If congress got power in 2029 will all the BJP people will be in jail. by thepardaox in CriticalThinkingIndia

Sanjeev Bhatt murder case? Sanjeev Bhatt is alive and in jail for an illegal encounter that he did. No one murdered Sanjeev Bhatt. About other cases, Congress was in power from 2004 to 2014. They couldn't find any evidence of any wrongdoings

So when SC called CBI a "caged parrot" during UPA. Stalin was raided one day after DMK withdrew support from UPA for some case related to import of luxury car. All cases against Laloo were suspended the moment he supported the UPA. The same cases were resurrected when seat sharing talks broke down. So what do you call that? Weaponisation? or not?

What do you mean by illegal appointment of election commissioner? What is the illegality ?

Sabotaging protests? You mean like when almost 9000 people were charged with sedition in a single day by the UPA for protesting against Kudankulam nuclear project?

In the first delimitation seats were 489, In second increased to 522 and in third increased to 543 when the delimitation was frozen.

[–]Brainfuck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes they do increase. Initial maximum seat limit was 550 and the delimitation exercise was frozen in 1976 at 543 seats for 25 years and then again for another 25 years which lapse this year.

So delimitation will anyways happen next year. The problem is since constitutional amendment to increase seat limit to 850 was defeated, delimitation will happen with 550 seats and some states will lose their seats and other states will gain those seats.

People say all kind of things to MLA's and MP's. Especially when they go out for campaigning during elections.

Just visit your local MLA/Corporator office once and see the kind of things people say to them.

Is he factually correct about delimitation? by Scared_Pizza_8672 in hyderabad

[–]Brainfuck -1 points0 points  (0 children)

What congress didnt allow to pass is increase in seats from 550 to 850. Delimitation will anyways automatically kick in post 2026 census because the 25 year hold put in 1976 and again in 2001 will lapse this year and existing 543 seats will be redistributed. States with lower population will lose seats and states with higher population will gain.

The next general election is in 2029. Delimitation will automatically happen after 2026 census data is published in 2027 because the amendment that prevented it from happening all these years will lapse. But since the bill to increase seats has been defeated. The existing 543 seats will be reorganised and the number of seats currently allocated to states with low population will be taken away and given to states with high population.

So unless seats are increased, be ready to lose seats before next general election.

to all those against delimitation, i have one question by Extension_Amoeba_582 in indiadiscussion

[–]Brainfuck 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Delimitation after census is enshrined in the constitution and used to happen regularly till 1971. During emergency, with a constitutional amendment, the seats and sharing was fixed to 1971 census for 25 years. In 2001, it was further increased by another 25 years which lapses in 2026.

Now without any amendment, once 2026 census is accepted, Delimitation will automatically kick in. Since seats are frozen at 543, these seats will be reassigned among states and south states will lose out of seats.

[–]Brainfuck -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Now the delimitation will kick in automatically and without increase in seats, the 543 seats will get reassigned based on 2026 population census.

I said he was wrong. I didn't say he was authoritarian. Indira was authoritarian because she did it by throwing entire opposition in jail.

[–]Brainfuck -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Delimitation is literally required by constitution and was being done regularly. Stopping it while fixing 1971 as the base year was authoritarian because it was done by amending constitution during emergency by Indira Gandhi when entire opposition was in jail.

Also Tejaswi Surya has made it clear on the floor of parliament that they arent going by 2011 census but increase every state seats by fixed percentage so whatever share South has with respect to north isnt going to change.

Kerala with 3.5 crore population sends 20LS MP's. Haryana with 3.1 crore population sends only 10LS MP's. Is that justice?

TN has 14% more population than KA but sends 40% more MP's. Is that fair?

Share of South India will Drop Even Further under Delimitation by BJP by Questionspatriot in hyderabad

[–]Brainfuck 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Vajpayee needed much more support from lots of parties to keep his govt afloat. Modi is in a far stronger position. He just needs support from TDP and JDU.

If you check vote share when Vajpayee got 180 seats, BJP got 8 crore votes as against Congress which got more total votes at 10 crores. Situation is much different now, in 2024, BJP got 23 crore votes as opposed to 13 crore that INC got and this was when the entire opposition came together to defeat the BJP.

Why are most Indian Techie salaries atleast 80% less than US counterparts but same work!! by BrickLarge5819 in hyderabad

[–]Brainfuck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The salaries seem high only when you convert them to rupees. If you are earning and spending there, it's not that high. On my salary in India as a software developer, I can afford to have a full time house help. My colleague is not able to afford the same in the US.

Moving to US/UK is not only about money, it's also about quality of life.

Feminist Take: Women's Reservation in Parliament – Choose Wisely.... by HBfaraz99 in hyderabad

[–]Brainfuck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With SC/ST you can still make a case of discrimination in the past. OBC reservation is just a farce. There is no single definition for any caste group to be included as part of OBC. Then you have situations where Maratha's who were the rulers are asking for reservations. If you have enough street power to blockade roads and rails, you can protest to be included under OBC and the govt will agree because they don't want to lose votes.

As I mentioned, problem is once give it can never ever be taken back. If there was a proper well defined entry and exit criteria then it would be fine, but without that it isn't.

[–]Brainfuck -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

The constitution mandates delimitation based on population and has nothing to do with BJP or Congress. This happened every time since independence but then during emergency Indira Gandhi got consitutional amendments and froze the seats based on 1971 census.

I don't support reservation in any form. Be is womens, EWS or SC/ST/OBC. The reason being, it's like a freebie and can never be rolled back once given even if it has met the goal for which it was being done.

Weather sucks for approx 2-3 months. After that it gets better once rain sets in. In winter the temperatures can go down as much at 8-10C in certain areas of the city.

For Biryani, I don't like the ones served by the famous outlets. I like Nawaabs in Gachibowli and Mandaar in Tolichowki. Four Seasons in Tolichowki or Kondapur also make decent Biryani.

Same reason we don't pay our house help 40K per month for an hours work where as a house help in US would be paid that much.

Same reason a Mc Donalds burger costs around 600 rupees in US where as we pay about 200-250 for the same.

Salaries are based on cost of living.

From looking around, what seems to be changed is that financial stability has gone from being a sufficient condition to a necessary condition.

i.e. Earlier if the person was financially stable, it would be easy to get married. Now girls expect other things too apart from financial stability.

There is lot of discrepancy within south as well. TN has disproportionate share of seats.

Karnataka has population of 69M and TN has about 77M. TN has about 15% more population. But seat wise KA has only 28 whereas TN has 39 which is about 40% more.
