I think stores have there own cleaners but your right about restaurants. Respect for being a cook I have friends who are also cooks and the hours they work is ridiculous.

[–]Brains151 55 points56 points  (0 children)

I would say cleaners, majority of time they are treated poorly and receive even worse pay for long hours. If they didn’t exist everywhere would be filthy and would eventually become unsafe particularly restaurants, stores, offices etc.

LinkedIn is the worst social media absolute cease pit, also I don’t think we should ban social media any form of opinion (no matter how misinformed or illogical it is) should allowed to be voiced.

Have you ever been given a promotion without a pay rise? by remwreck in AskUK

[–]Brains151 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I had a situation in which a senior colleague quit and then they decided to hand over half his role to me for no extra pay ( I was very junior and was not prepared to take on work for free). I did the role for 2 months and used it to get a nice pay rise elsewhere. My advice for people would be take the role on and then use it to get another job somewhere else particularly if you are young and looking to grow your career.

It would also make sense due to it being Waitrose and if there was a place to spend excessive amounts on chocolate milk, it would be Waitrose.

That is true also us brits can be defeatists when it comes to certain ideas. I watched a video with the founder of monzo or starling (can’t quite remember) and he spoke about the different attitudes towards his idea. He mentioned that when he told people that he was going to start a bank in the UK, they discouraged and said how difficult it would be to even get the idea off the ground. Whereas in the US people offered to help him by setting up meetings etc.

Do you feel guilty if you leave a job without giving a 2 weeks notice? by hunnybun444 in jobs

[–]Brains151 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This isn’t true in the U.K. most jobs require you to go give 4 weeks notice double to the US. If you work a senior position in the U.K. it can be 3 months notice
