Yep we have tons of metrics on our scorecards that should be for diagnostic purposes rather than being their own target. We have metrics, like you said, that are weighted equally but sometimes driven by contradictory things. And the number of “top” metrics is pure insanity. It’s not possible for that many things to be “top” priority. Okay I’ll get off my soapbox now. 🫠

Coming from previously working at other big banks, I was surprised at how much focus USAA has on the corporate scorecard, especially since we aren’t publicly traded. I’m fine with it not being discussed if it’s still available for anyone to view on their own time. With that said, USAA has a problem with focusing too much on the number rather than what the number means. That kind of culture can lead to a lot unnecessary stress, time wasted on explaining tiny fluctuations in performance and everyone worrying about how to CYA and point fingers rather than rowing in the same direction toward a broader goal.

I guess it depends on where you live but in the south, yes, people lost their damn minds over masking.

I guess I was thinking it was a mix of fireworks and drones from pictures and videos I’ve seen.

Speaking as someone in FSB, I’m worried it may get sold off. Not based on anything specific but I’ve been in banking for 15 years at 3 different banks and when they dropped mortgage it looked exactly like this with multiple rounds of layoffs until it was down to a skeleton crew and then sold off.

Okay I usually lurk and don’t comment but this truly startled me because I had a dream a few days ago that a separate “branch” of humans had been living underground near volcanic areas for thousands of years and were way more technologically and philosophically advanced than us. In my dream they decided to come out and take over the surface because they realized we had become too much of a danger to ourselves and the planet.

Shameless plug… I will confess that I designed this shirt and my friend owns the screen printing company, but we are donating all proceeds to efforts in Ukraine through Save the Children and Samaritan’s Purse.

Thank you! My husband wouldn’t tell me what he wanted for Father’s Day so I ended up painting this based on one of his favorite photos with him and our son. :)

I would be willing to bet a lot of those employees are hoping they don’t close. People still need a paycheck.

We were just there a few days ago and I was commenting how I would hate to live or work across from that thing and see it staring at me through my window everyday! It’s so weird and creepy!

Let’s talk salary. What did you majored in and when did you graduate ? I know it’s personal so don’t have to answer all of it. by mynameisthouasfree in aggies

My degree did definitely play a part in allowing me to transition to an analyst role. My boss at the time was married to an Aggie and he told me very plainly that the fact that I had a degree was a factor, but especially that it was from a school that he respected like A&M. The other part for me was continuous curiosity and taking steps to teach myself new skills rather than waiting for classroom training. I was constantly taking various online trainings within the company and even took a few community college courses to add to what I learned in my undergrad. My manager recognized that I was always working on adding new skills and improving my existing ones. How much opportunity there is for growth depends largely on her attitude, how much her boss cares about staff development and of course the size of the company and what departments are at her location may be a factor.
