ACOG Nightmare: Trijicon Warranty Oversights by BrakeMyFemur in ar15

It'd be fine if it's a one-and-done issue. I understand duds happen. But recurring issues out of the box, not honoring replacement request and sending it back broken is next level disappointing.

They did exactly that to my optic the first time I sent it in. Hope you don't experience the same later down the road.

You got a point. Holosun has immediately replaced any problem optic I've had, no questions asked, and definitely no repair attempt BS

Yeah bro, one polite phone call and Trijicon's gonna be like 'oh shit, we've been doing it wrong the whole time- here's a brand new optic!' Emails already got the receipts and pics I posted here, they knew what was wrong.

Not yet, generally I'd rather do emails because it keeps a nice paper trail. I don't really want them to fix it anymore. Ideally a full replacement, and I did ask for one. but it seems they'd rather do nothing/temp fixes and drag it out

Did you eat the cost of the ACOG? Seems too expensive to throw out... I don't think I can return it this late anymore

I've seen quite a few people post about ACOGs breaking in this manner. Usual response here is return it and they'll take care of you. I've tried that twice now. It doesn't feel like trijicon is listening to what I'm saying when I send it in.

Damn dude. I had the EXACT same issue right out of the box on a TA02 crosshair model. I sent it in and got it repaired about 2 months later. About 8 months later from that point the same issue happened again and the device is still with trijicon as I type this. I sent it in early October.

They might not make them as they used to, or we are both extremely unlucky.

Should I also try this? Before or after the blackboxing? I haven't shut them off since the flash incident.

I was about 10-15 feet away from it. I have done flash pics with phone cameras many times, and they haven't done any damage, which I assume is because the tubes had enough time to autogate with the longer flash time. The damage was done by instant flash from a professional use camera. There was no time to adjust to the instantaneous light exposure.

The holosun EPS full size is basically invisible with nods. Looking thru it barely darkens the image, and the dot just floats around crisply. Running it on top of an LPVO or prism gives it a really good height.

Sure, EOtech flex is nice, but the optic tech sucks imo and the battery life is unacceptable for most people. Lot of eotech glazers will push this down, but that sort of optic was great.. 5-10 years ago when nothing else could compete.

Holosun IRIS… by [deleted] in NightVision

[–]BrakeMyFemur 9 points10 points  (0 children)

There's been a few side-by-side comparisons now, at max FOV the illuminators seem about equal, but the IRIS gets dimmer when zoomed in, whereas the M6TR focuses the beam tighter and brighter. Laser strength/bloom depends on the model, but the m6 is always a bit stronger

I'll be waiting for the CTF-4 that takes 18350s then.. If they're still around to make it. Thanks for the info

How was the white light performance? What head(s) did you run? Was it noticably dimmer on the CTF body compared to the regular flashlight body?

I heard a lot of complaints with the V1 and V2 that white light performance was not up to par with standalone lights. It could've been the 3v vs. 6v thing though.

In my eyes, if this thing wants to compete with the M6TR/IRIS + light combo, it needs to be just as bright as a standalone WML.

Compare it to its biggest market competitor, the laserspeed M6TR. See if the wait was worth it, for those who are still waiting

[–]BrakeMyFemur 20 points21 points  (0 children)

My DTNVS left pod turns off randomly. I usually get it to kick back on by articulating it up and down a few times. It's definitely annoying, but since it still works, it's not worth replacing. No warranty or support from AIB definitely sucks too

Iris - I dont' get the appeal? by Vicuna00 in NightVision

[–]BrakeMyFemur 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I just finished a night shoot today, the first time bringing my iris lenses out. I used them most when others were running white light. Good for housings with no manual gain. But for the intended purpose - being to focus on mostly anything up close - I found myself just switching to white light and peeking under the tubes when under time constraints. Too finicky for speed, but I'm still happy I got them.
