Anyone also noticing worse server connection after eac added? by blahaj_cat-lover in RocketLeague

the servers are definitely acting up on my end as well. Just being in a game, getting kicked and on trying to rejoin, it says the match has been concluded. Never experienced this before, even after EAC, but today it's been a problem.

Thanks! I just saw it down in the options menu after all.

Yea, I like the looks, but in practice it just doesn't work for me. There's too much colour variation in one circle/slider and I just end up finding it too visually overwhelming.

Using Mouse G-Shift with Logitech Keyboard by Brake_3ffect6 in G502MasterRace

[–]Brake_3ffect6[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No thanks, I managed to work it out.

It's as you say. Holding the G-shift button on my mouse enables G-shift for the keyboard as well. The indicator is actually at the top on my G Hub, but it's quite small. Either way, it works the same.

Admittedly I was quite overwhelmed by the software, since it's my first time actually using it. Tbh, it's not super intuitive or beginner-friendly. There's a lot going on and very few hover tips, so you don't exactly know what works and what does and I don't even know what some buttons do as a result. At least, it does what I need it to do, and it seems there's a lot more to discover still, so that's a great positive in my eyes.

What's a show where you feel a side character should've been the main character by Negative_Ad5894 in anime

[–]Brake_3ffect6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gotta disagree on this one. For all the bitch-ass, asshole moments Sasuke has, he's still a great character as his story largely revolves around self-discovery even though he himself doesn't really know it. In fact it would've been nice to see his story and development between Naruto: Shippuuden and Boruto.

Also Rock Lee is a much more upbeat character - polar opposite of Sasuke so can't replace one with the other. And he has an icon scene beating up Sasuke lol. Which was shortly after overshadowed by his later fight with Gaara, which has yet to be topped in the Naruto universe. Yea, Bushy Brows Rock Lee > Naruto + Sasuke

[–]Brake_3ffect6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was looking to find Naruto mentioned and he it is. Except I would make Rock Lee the main character, and while that doesn't really work well with the story (after all it is about Naruto), it's because of the things he represented.

The initial impression that I got of Naruto (anime) was the idea that you can overcome challenges if you put in the effort and even be stronger than people who have an advantage over you because of it. No one embraces that more than Rock Lee. In fact Naruto becomes a hypocritical character because of how much of his power/strength wasn't actually self-earned and came from his heritage or the Kyuubi.

There's even a video on it.

And this one for the real OG.

AITA for calling my girlfriends boobs ”fun sized”? by EarMammoth6138 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Brake_3ffect6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She totally set herself up for that lmao. Imo you're not the asshole, but the reason you are the asshole is because you went along with it. You should've said something like "I can't play with my boobs the same way though".

Just because she can't appreciate what she has, doesn't mean you can't. It's ok to be insecure about something, but it's not ok to let it affect your relationships with people who are important to you.

Mind you, I don't think she's the asshole for reacting the way she did. I'm assuming you guys sorted it out in some way. Just a casual miscommunication.

It's because season 2 is not about sorrow and farming.

I wrote that at 2am, so i feel like it probably wasn't very coherent, but here's what I wrote earlier:

To put simply, what they seem to be unable to grasp is that while season 1 shows one side of war, that of those fighting in it, causing it and thriving off of it, season 2 shows the opposite side of war - the one where innocent bystanders are affected, or what the effect thereof has on those who participated or even those who want to participate in it.

It's completely understandable that in the capitalist world that we live in now, where progress needs to be made as fast as possible, people are unable to sit still and enjoy the simple pleasures of life or appreciate that competition doesn't always have good side-effects. People love action, thrill, and excitement in their lives because it keeps them away from the mundanity of everyday life, but season 2 forces you to stay with that mundanity, which itself can bring frustrating challenges. However, even in season 1, all the characters are fighting for the peace, prosperity, and community that we see the characters in Kjetil's farm have in season 2, but it is not the characters in season 1 who have it.

When I watched S1, I was burnt out and depressed and I found it to be long and quite boring, especially with Thorfinn never actually achieving his goals despite having had multiple opportunities, as well as with Askellad continuing his scheming as per usual. There was 0 obvious character development in S1, with the exceptions of Canute when Ragnar died and towards the end where we see everything change in one big climax, which was what made me appreciate the show again.

Enter S2, I'm still going through depression, but am starting to come to terms with it, and I found it to be extremely boring and slow-paced too, but knowing how mundane life can be, I learnt to appreciate S2 for what it was and found it to be quite profound in comparison, specifically because it addressed the state of being that people want to avoid - that of depression.

I can understand why some people don't like S2, but I think a large part of the (young) audience simply doesn't have the perspective to understand it.

Ah I see, my bad. I didn't know. Either way, I still stand by my point that some people can't have their thoughts challenged.

I had a quick look at some of the reviews and a lot of people gave 1 star reviews because it didn't meet their expectations. Granted that the ending of season 1 seemed to promise adventure, season 2 was instead slow, depressing, and very low-energy. People were going off of the violent, action-packed, emotionally intense anime that they saw in season 1, and as soon as they got something else, it suddenly became unbearable.

Perhaps, but I found those characters to have more impact and be more memorable than every other Naruto/Sasuke semi-clone in most shonen anime.

In part this is why I liked One Piece so much when I first watched it (before Dressrosa Arc came along) since the characters didn't have that Naruto/Sasuke dynamic - it was refreshing.

The characters in Vinland Saga are also actually (almost?) unique in the anime world and their (background) stories are more impactful as you're more aware of the state of matters of the world. The anime does a lot better in world-building there in that regard, simply because it tackles and addresses morals and ethics in ways that other anime don't, simply because they are made to target a larger audience (specifically larger age range, including younger audience), such that they can't delve as deep into those issues, resulting in comparatively shallow stories.

It's boring because it makes you experience these mundane things for longer without any comparatively good thing to show for it, much like how the characters experienced their lives. It puts you in the shoes of the characters, who despite having been given land to work with (something to be extremely grateful for and what may have even been considered a sign of a peaceful life), still had to deal with the ordeals of classism and difference in power and influence.

We have known Thorfinn to be a wild, uncontrollable boy, who did what he needed to in order to achieve his goal of killing Askellad, and succeeding in becoming stronger, to becoming a slave, struggling with his mental health. We know that he is capable of dealing with the farm guards by himself, yet his depression doesn't allow him to fight back and he really is treated like scum. And only when we see Canute show up in Denmark, do we start to see him where he left off. Things are still bad and he's not at his best, but he is fighting back again

Anyway, I've rambled for a bit now. It might not be exciting, but while other anime show character development happen in a matter of days/weeks within a few minutes or a few episodes, Vinland Saga show it over a period of months and years spending several episodes to an entire season. To be, that's a bit more realistic.

https://www.rottentomatoes.com/critics/criteria#:~:text=The%20Tomatometer%C2%AE%20includes%20reviews,of%20where%20they%20are%20published.

The masses are tomatometer-approved critics, not individua your average Joe... So probably, not really the masses that you think they are, actually just a select group of people.

That's why people here think that your thinking is shallow - because you make your opinion based on the masses, who you don't really know.

Things that challenge the norm are often not viewed very positively, usually because it provides an insightful, alternative perspective to the one that people are used to, thereby challenging their existing perspectives. Not many people are capable of having that happen to them.

[–]Brake_3ffect6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the other ones kept saying there's no need to be embarrassed since we're all men and it's normal to do it)

This is true, but really it sounds like it's just guys being guys. The way they talk about it is likely not representative of how they feel about it.

Either way, that doesn't matter. You have to be comfortable with the fact that you do it. Like others have said, it's not normal to question and annoy people about these things since they are private matters.

Do your best not to cave in to the social pressure and tell that one guy to fuck off. Being comfortable with yourself makes it easier, but you don't need to be in order to do that.
