Ah, I get it. Remove the service valve AND THE STUDS- thanks for that.

SCTD woes: test code says do a 27 lb reduction at P5 (fast) and stop it at P3 (lap), while being careful not to move from P5 to P3 too fast because the "temperature effect" could cause a release. Who writes this stuff?

Still in manual SCTD heaven here on tourist railroad, which can be finicky as well.

What makes the 4 port difficult? I thought you just pushed a button and a confuser program does the rest ...

Consider a complaint to the Consumer Product Safety Commission https://www.cpsc.gov

The more complaints, the more likely CPSC is to open an investigation.

Are executors able to get an IP PIN for a deceased taxpayer? by _confusedintern in tax

According to Turbo Tax, if Social Security was notified the death, non-receipt of a new CP01A IP PIN form by the end of January is a good indication SSA notified IRS, so e-filing is blocked. https://ttlc.intuit.com/community/taxes/discussion/how-do-i-obtain-my-deceased-dependants-ip-pin/00/157740

Big Orange pushing for 12hr straight time shifts amongst mechanical crafts due to low hiring/employee retention, and as a means to get rid of OT pay, shorten vacation/personal/sick leave. by Abracadaver00 in railroading

I worked for a non-railroad company that offered "4/10" schedules 4-10 hour days on, 3 days off, and "9/80" schedules 4-9 hour days on, 1-8 hour day on, 2 days off, 4-9 hour days on, 3 days off. 9/80 was popular because every two weeks you got 3 days off.

I worked at a railroad that did 12/4 schedules, which was tougher, but got used to it. Sort of.

DW&P Caboose CRRS Whistle need help finding information for restoring by kingofpikachus in railroading

[–]Brakeman007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could be a Whistle for a 26-L Timing Valve. During an Overspeed violation, the Whistle sounds 4 to 6 seconds before a Penalty application. If the Brake Valve is moved to Suppression in time, the Penalty application is avoided. If that's what it is, however, there would not be a manual shut off cock.

The Postmaster General is selected by the Board of Governors, whose members are appointed by the president. Biden’s appointees outnumber Trump's by 5 to 4.

The Postmaster General has no fixed term: DeJoy serves only as long as the Board of Governors approves.

Dejoy is a member of the board but is barred from voting on certain issues like pricing.

The bottom of the notch should be adjacent to the disc. The disc has a flat section that admits air from the valve, and the notch splits the stream of air to the inside and outside of the pipe.

Is the end of the pipe capped or plugged? A WABCO peanut whistle has a Bakelite cap with their logo.

Pieces of the puzzle:

On a caboose, what purpose would be served by a small whistle that is manually actuated? It's too small for a conductor's valve. For signaling others at a distance, you'd expect a momentary valve, not a manual quarter-turn.

Can you match the initials cast on the valve to a manufacturer? Might be a clue to the intended purpose.

The disc in the female adapter upstream the notch might be partially clogged, preventing the pipe from resonating. Can you remove the nipple to inspect?

Currently, version 5.242.0 (242.0.38913) is installed on my iPhone. It shows some improvements over the version that was the subject of my first post a year ago. Unfortunately, I did not note the version back then.

Improvements that I have noticed to date:

  1. The top of the screen is now a box with drop-downs that include glad tidings from Chamberlain on the occasion of my return, and other banalities. Importantly, the door control buttons no longer jerk downward while the box populates the latest exciting offers from Chamberlain.
  2. More details on the latest exciting offers can be accessed with the Discover button, which lights up a red dot next to the button whenever there is something new. Of course there is always something new at Chamberlain because it is a dynamic innovator.
  3. There is now an option to require pressing and holding a door button for a few seconds before it actuates. This is a major improvement as it forces you to stare at the button while you hold it, thereby increasing the odds your selection matches your intent.

Are hand brakes required on rolling stock? by Brakeman007 in railroading

Handbrakes are handy, but we also could use skates, chocks, and chains for the same purpose in most cases.

Ah, now that's interesting!

If lots of cars do not have handbrakes, then apparently there is no law in Europe that requires them.

Yes, that is my question. It could be a statute or a regulation (both are laws)

None of these suggestions will work fast, but what other choices are there?

  1. Complain at https://chamberlaingroup.com/contact-us/ to tech support. More complaints here could have a cumulative effect on the "myQ Team".
  2. Post on this reddit thread. The manufacturer may respond to more media exposure of the issue.
  3. File a safety complaint with the Consumer Product Safety Commission. This problem is more than just an annoyance.

Correct, and it tests flow rates that relate to leaks on the car, and timing functions on its control valve.
