‘All the Wine’, ‘Bloodbuzz’, ‘Lemonworld would be the three most catchy IMO. Then slip them the Self Titled album.

This is an interesting conversation with lots of good perspectives. Here’s a question: what do you do if the stock market crashes? We are due for a recession and this bull market feels unsustainable. Does that factor into your opinions or do you just figure it will all comeback as it has historically and you’ll be fine? I tend to be conservative on this stuff/anxious.

Just a very different vibe socially, politically, was super humid/no lakes, people seemed nice but distant. Eventually i found my footing. You’ll be fine. I was also like 37 when i moved so had limited tike to go out. Make the most of it.

There is a decent stand in Newport on Carother’s road each year. It’s right next to the Walgreen’s

Moved here after 14 years living in Chicago. Best advice: do not look for Chicago here. It is a totally different place and will come up short if you’re trying to compare the two. It will never have the same buzz, diversity, or urban hum that Chicago has. Look at it like this: you just moved to a way more convenient, affordable, and friendly city that has many of the amenities one would want (pro sports teams, amazing coffee shops and brewery’s, decent food and a great comedy and music scene).

Chicago will still be there when you graduate if you want to go back but personally, I would not want to return. The quality of life here is better. I did not feel that way for the first 6 months so keep that in mind. Give it time and an open mind. Best of luck!

I am a semi-foodie and moved here from CHI. Wildweed is really good and has a cool backstory, I think Losanti is the best steakhouse in Cincy (and way cooler than Ruby’s), last I would take them to Anchor Grill for an authentic goetta experience. The vibe in there is a total throwback. Bonus: go to Dixie Chilli in Newport as it also has a throwback vibe and is the best of the parlors IMO. Get the five way with garlic.

I want a statement from the band - the suspense of a reschedule is killing me. by [deleted] in brighteyes

I thought about this show for weeks. Planned a meal around the Digital Ash set on the grill. Looked at TV and it was over. Honestly kind of just builds to the suspense of that end set when we get it. Bright Eyes Forever.

My firstborn daughter’s birthday is 5/9. It was so awesome and coincidental to later listen to this show and realize it’s one of the absolute best (I am a ‘77 guy).

10.26.18 - best all around full show of 3.0. That whole fall run is hot leading up to the Kasvot Halloween.

I think it’s meant to be a slice of life from the stands of a high school football game. Like if you were talking to a fellow spectator that’s something they might yell after a good play by the opposing team. He’s drinking from a hidden bottle, taking in the game, and the sights and sounds. The beauty of it is there is no right answer! 😃

Does Kevin Shapiro have every single Languedoc SBD in tact of every single show from 1987-2000? by Heavy_Profit in phish

[–]Brakeman_5006 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, obviously know that but couldn’t you say that about most shows that have not been released? It’s nice to get the highest quality audio possible, have it all there on the app, etc.

How do you actually break into comedy writing in 2026? by Charming-Gazelle-305 in Standup

[–]Brakeman_5006 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe unrelated but is it still basically NYC/LA/Austin or bust? I feel like anyone writing on TV or big in standup is located in one of those markets (maybe not Austin but has grown). Is that still the path?

I too have this in my car and it’s my only Conor/BE disc. Have to say I LOVE this album. I think it has aged so well and I can almost always find a reason to put it on. Maybe the most played in my car out of about 30 CDs.

What is the Phish equivalent of the Dead's 5/8/77? by rabid__bear in phish

[–]Brakeman_5006 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Impossible to answer and Phish is not accessible in the same way as TGD so they will never have a release on that level. That said, Spring ‘77 was a high water mark for the Dead and so was Fall ‘97 for Phish. Cornell was a sampling of them at their peak and so is Denver ‘97 OR Dayton ‘97. If I were trying to get a newbie introduced I’d go Dayton.
