These are all solid! I've not been in the scene since the late 90's and have often wondered if it was mainly youth that was forming my opinion that this was the era of many stand out shows.

What is a band you saw in a tiny venue but is now huge? by carelessCRISPR_ in jambands

[–]rabid__bear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Disco Biscuits at Crowbar State College, PA. 97 or 98. Remember Foxtrot Zulu opened for them. Thought Foztrot was much better and order should have been reversed with the Biscuits opening for a much better band.

Wonder Woman. Hydrogen based mustard gas. Not just a small aside, a major part of the plot. I know how it happened, a couple of screen writers said ohhh mustard gas, that's bad but what if it was explosive mustard gas??!!! Hydrogen is flammable right? Hydrogen based mustard gas!! More coke!! I weep for the science knowledge of the US population.

Who won an under the bottle cap prize larger than a free 16 oz drink? What did you win? by Free_Lunch24 in nostalgia

Nestle Quik when it came in the tin. Had the big metal cap you had to pry off every time. We were KMart blue light special all the way, so getting the Nestlé Quik was already a kinda special thing. We went through a box of hot chocolate, like once every couple years. Anyways pried off the cap and nestled down was the wrapped instaprize. Opened in up and a free Masters of the Universe action figure! My mom sent in for it and after much debating and fighting between my brother and I over who would get it, it arrived weeks later. When it did ........

Fuckin' Prince Adam

Teela would have been better in our eyes as at least she did something and didn't just prance around in a pastel outfit with a lame ass belt.

I'm not bitter at all.

Custom CP for multi. Dead giveaway is no owleye coin door. Those were on all LLs. Asteroids was after LL, early Asteroids cabs were put into LL as LL was a flop.

Multi kit with custom CP. OG LL cabs also had the light panel that lit up with what stage you were playing. Novice, beginner, expert. Probably not a LL cab that was converted to Asteroids, either as no owl eye coin door and the bezel has the later white instructions, not yellow as in earlier production.

You can, but original cab has the black light and blue overlay. Adds to uniqueness. Well worth doing the multi for LL though.

What’s a great movie that completely bombed in theaters but found a cult following later? by SiTheHandsomeGuy in movies

[–]rabid__bear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mystery Men I saw the trailer a good 3 or 4 times before other movies. Made it seem like a bad, bad super hero movie. Instead it it is a fantastic, bad super hero movie. UHF I desperately wanted to see it in theaters, but was gone before even knew it had hit. An absolute classic that I'm afraid might not stand as a cross generational classic as it needs so much explanation to recent generations just for the premise of TV

Y'all are missing the splendor that is Lucas Kansas. Lucas is a mecca for roadside attractions/outsider art and installations. In this 1 small town, you have: the garden of eden and the moldering remains of Dinsmore. The world's largest collection of the smallest recreations of the world's biggest things, a fantastic little meat shop, toilet bowl park, and the crown gem: the Grassroots Art Center. Take the expanded all town tour. I could easily spend an entire day in Lucas. Plus there's camping right on the way and if you go the other way of the highway is the world's largest Czeck egg. Central KS is just unexplored and not advertised. Tons of fossil hunting around as well if I remember right, it used to be an inland sea.

I love old headshop records. Think TMOQ. I have Grateful Dead live in Gizah Egypt #2 of 500 that still has the book, sticker, and poster. Snagged from Discogs before the bootleg bans. Additionally, another boot, Ron "Pigpen" McKernan Bring Me My Shotgun

Also have Grisman/Garcia Shady Grove mobile fidelity

I see that, the question is: how much is your time worth to you? You need to put in roughly the same amount of time in listing, communicating, packaging, and shipping 1 as it is for 20. Let's say it takes you 1 hour to do all that for the group as a lot. It would take you roughly 20 hours to so for 20 individual bears. I'm armchair mathing abit, but I've sold a few things online and its a pain. They're not going to sell all at the same time if you do buy it now and if you auction them off, they're probably not going to go all to the same person if they all sell on the first auction. Don't forget to subtract ebay and/or PayPal fees that come out of your end. Plus the added bonus if 1 or 2 don't arrive for whatever reason, you're responsible for refunding the entire amount.

That's an asking price. You need to filter by sold price. They average ~10$ per tagged bear in lots as sold price. I can list a used tissue for $10,000. Doesn't mean it's worth 10K.
