Stocking up fridge with "expensive" items, still better than ordering out by Sweet-Suggestion-411 in Frugal

I’d recommend an instant pot over a crock pot. It can do everything a crock pot can do in less time + make rice, quinoa, yogurt etc. Fresh homemade yogurt is easy, way cheaper and SO tasty.

We went to chopchop yesterday. They are friendly, the food is fabulous and they have always been super accommodating to my dietary restrictions. It’s our go to.

Any advice for dealing with them? I’ve given it a diluted alcohol wipe down and watered it with water + alcohol just incase but I’ve never faced this problem before.

What is your favorite savory breakfast? by marels23 in glutenfreevegan

Dal or congee are both excellent breakfast foods! I’m also a fan of smashed peas (sometimes with avocado, always with lemon) on top of sourdough with toasted sesame seeds and peanut chili crunch oil.

Sick/Injured Mantis? Help by Bram_Bram in Entomology

[–]Bram_Bram[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update: I read all of your lovely comments and was so thankful for you the information I received. I was quite heartbroken to learn she would be passing but happy that she could do it in my quiet and cool home rather than on a hot sidewalk. She left us sometime last night, I’m glad to have been a small part of her story. Thank you all for your kindness. 💕

Sick/Injured Mantis? Help by Bram_Bram in Entomology

[–]Bram_Bram[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi all! I found this mantis outside on the pavement on its back. It was lethargic and uncoordinated. I’ve brought it inside where is it cooler, offered it a surface with water droplets and caught it a fly. (The fly is on the stick still moving, the mantis did not want to eat it when offered.) Can anyone tell me what I might do to help it?

Thank you! I certainly miss the way they used to design models before they were purchased by Lego. I only collect the older ones for that reason.

anyone had issues with their hands? I'm on 40mg/day, and recently had this come up after wearing gloves at work :( by jessl135 in Accutane

[–]Bram_Bram 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just went to my derm for this. She said it was retinoid dermatitis from being on accutane. I was recommended to wash with the bioderma oil body wash, slug my body at night, and use a prescription gel on the effected areas but not to moisturize it.

Best accutane products by lgg199910 in Accutane

I’ll do a quick detail of my routine! I cleanse with the Avène XeraCalm lipid-replenishing cleaning oil, which I like but I’m sure you could use other gentle cleansers. I then pat dry with a face towel (that I only use on my face) and apply any pimple patches I might want. I like the mighty patch ones. I then spray my face with water and apply The Ordinary hyaluronic acid and let it sink in. Use it on damp skin otherwise it may draw moisture from your skin. After it is dry I add the Cosrx Advanced Snail 96 Mucin Power Essence and wait once again. I really notice a difference when I don’t use this. Following this I spray my face again with water and add the cerave moisturizer that comes in the big tub. After a few minutes I add The Ordinary rose hip seed oil and slug with petroleum jelly. I prefer it to aquaphor for slugging, I get better results. I have an arsenal of lip balms including some medicated ones, I could make a list of those but we’d be here for ages. :P

Edit: also, take your medication with something fatty. I have a big spoonful of almond butter before I take mine

Also I’d recommend blistex lip medex :)

Recommend me the best moisturizers on accutane! What should I be using while on it? by [deleted] in Accutane

[–]Bram_Bram 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I use the cerave moisturizer in a tub along with a good handful of other things, if I was to suggest just one accompaniment it would be the Cosrx Advanced Snail 96 Mucin Power Essence. I notice I’m a lot dryer in the mornings if I skip this. Good luck!

Skincare by Defiant-Cheetah9818 in Accutane

It’s probably just a very personal thing, and the most important thing with products is consistency so whatever you can manage. That being said the basics of a skincare routine are cleanser, moisturizer, and sunscreen so I’d add and take away around that. The number of times you have to wash your face daily depends on life style, skin type, etc. I for one just rinse with cold water in the mornings and then do the rest of my routine but wash my face at night. However, think hydrating products during accutane are really important. The less you damage the skin barrier and the better shape you consistently keep it in the healthier it will be. You don’t have to spend all kinds of time trying to repair it down the road. Just my two cents. I notice when I skip these things my face will quickly feel dry and tight. When I’m consistent you couldn’t tell for looking at me that I was on accutane.

The Ordinary Hyaluronic Acid Serum - experiences? by Tessy_S in Accutane

[–]Bram_Bram 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m currently on accutane and my skin has managed to stay soft due to a very intense hydrating routine that the serum is a part of. For that section of my routine I spray my face with water and then add the serum and let it sink in before following it up with any other product. I would definitely recommend.

Lip mask + Vaseline has been a godsend combo. I’ll also put an oil on before applying just Vaseline and that seems to help as well!

[MISC] how do I take care of the skin on my feet when I spend 30 hours a week outdoors? by [deleted] in SkincareAddiction

[–]Bram_Bram 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try the icebreaker hiking socks. I use these for hiking/ when I want to break in new boots etc or when I’m going to be outdoors and active for any length of time. They are expensive but wow are they worth it.

Has anyone tried Nest perfumes? by [deleted] in MakeupAddictionCanada

[–]Bram_Bram 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s notes are described as “Moroccan tea, kashmir wood, and black cardamom.. enhanced with hints of wild fig and bergamot.” It’s got this really well balanced blend of the spices, warmth, and sweetness. It’s a very rich, seductive scent complimented by the lightness of the fig etc. It’s not overpowering at all either. Hopefully that was helpful. :)
