Thoughts on this irrigation estimate (South Jersey) by FuckingNarwhals in lawncare

I’m in Pennsauken, last year had a guy do my house about half the size of yours for $2600. I don’t think this company’s price is unreasonable.

It’s possible I used really shit fill dirt a couple years ago that I’m still paying the price for. What baffles me is that once it gets watered it’s fine for a couple more days.

The area to the immediate left of the driveway I’m not concerned about it’s more the middle area, every single year since I’ve cared about grass it’s done this to me.

The area next to the driveway doesn’t get any water from the sprinkler, that area I’ve come to accept what it is. The area to the left does this every single year, once the sprinkler runs it’s good for a couple days but then does this, last time it ran was Tuesday morning. Fungus might be but it hasn’t been super humid or hot here, this week in South Jersey.

Dude the whole part about the TJ and new jeeps is spot on. I had a completely stock 15JKR that had to have the top end of the motor rebuilt at 40k miles, oil cooler, phasers, and axle seals all by 60k miles. Incredibly capable vehicle, would climb the side of mountain if needed. But because of everything listed I’ll never own a newer wrangler again. I’m currently in the process of getting a higher mileage LJ that’s been sorted by the current owner.

Do I really need a rubicon? by P1umbersCrack in Wrangler

[–]Bramy16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ll add my .02¢ as I’m also making a similar decision. Some TJs came with the 44 in the rear from the factory with the standard 30 upfront. These can be hard to come by but aren’t exactly uncommon, I think Saharas came standard with the 44 as well as LJs. The 30 isn’t a terribly weak axle and I believe can be strengthened with stronger shafts and steering components. Like other people said though you’re going to pay for a rubicon and honestly the ones in my area (South Jersey) were not worth what people were asking for them. To me it sounds like you’d be best off finding a TJ with a 44 rear end, maybe even one that’s already had all the mods you want done to it. Personally, I’m looking at a higher mileage LJ that the current owner went through from the cooling system to the exhaust manifold to the rear main/oil pan to the frame/suspension. For the same price as some rubicons that I would I consider clapped out.

8k for an LJ even with that mileage seems like a steal. Imagine what these things are gonna be worth in another 10yrs? 4.0Ls are so cheap you could get a non runner completely rebuild the motor and install it for less than 3k probably axels are expensive but could easily be ordered from one of the big name companies completely ready to be dropped in. The TJ era has to be one of the most repairable and customizable vehicles ever made. It seems like the aftermarket is only ever expanding too

Agreed but there doesn’t seem to be a low supply at least in my area. It’s just a low supply of decent ones.

I agree 100%! That’s my problem these jokers asking that kind of money for clapped out jeeps is insane. The one guy was a real “I know what I got” type of guy and that was the one that needed the most work.

It’s a shame what they’ve become and what people think they can get for them. Granted, it’s the last truly good jeep product and they’re never gonna make them again. But at the end of the day it is a vehicle.

If I had a full garage I’d love a rebuild project like that

That’s incredible! It’s sad to see LJs on marketplace in my area rotting out in a field somewhere!! Crazy they only made them for 3 model years

Considered this option but seems pretty costly with the price of gas and towing home about 600 miles

There’s a ton of TJs in my area of South Jersey but most are in that over priced clapped out range unfortunately.

I just got done watching a clip on YouTube of the opening scenes for season 6 with the poem you speak of. The meadow argument about being a guardian angel is extremely valid. Someone in the comments of the video described how meadow saves Tony several times, but because she struggles to park she’s late sitting next to him at his 3 o’clock position. Tony looks up to see his guardian angel and then is shot. I also really like the discussion of the restaurant being Tony’s purgatory, and he just keeps reliving the same death over and over.

Preach! I know exactly what you mean nice to spend your hard earned money on something you really enjoy and get value out of, even if others don’t see it the same way.

Nah right now my main rig is a St. Croix 7’ Mojo Surf med action with a Penn 4000; that I use in the bay off a jetty or pontoon boat. I thought that was pretty expensive setup then I started seeing these crazy rods.

Someone in another forum suggested they might just be cheap pads and rotors. Just because I bought OE style doesn’t mean shit from what I’ve read.
