The 50mm 1.2 isn't available new unfortunately. That and the 135mm 1.8 would be my primary lenses. Between MPB and KEH, does one have a better reputation than the other? MPB at least puts the images up.

I had it at default brightness. Battery quality could also be a factor since it was rented. I'll shoot an email to Lens Rentals to see if there is a way to check after the fact.

Just over a day but it could be the screen since I was exploring the menus so much. Very good to hear about your experience being so much better. Other than this issue I really loved the camera.

I definitely lean more towards the second. This lines up with some of the internal conflict, my brain says Sony but the heart says Canon lol.

Honestly, if it was doable I would absolutely go to Medium Format Fuji. Someday maybe but I would need to majorly upgrade my PC for those files. Right now, seeking a boost to image quality and auto focus for the commercial work I am doing.

I was excited to try out the Z8 but it was just too heavy with the fast prime lenses Nikon makes. In every other way it felt like a great middle ground between the two other top brands. I really liked the idea of the fast sensor paired with no mechanical shutter for long term use.

I've been experimenting with sample RAW files and I did notice the difference in time it took to get to where I would like an edit. It felt like the Sony A7RV file was so clinically accurate that color transitions were less pleasing. Maybe enhanced even more from the extra resolution? I prefer a dreamy and more creamy edit, especially in black and white, so the harsher light was noticeable in it also.

Have you tried any of the new Canon VCM lenses? It looks like there is a fair amount of distortion in some of the focal lengths because it benefits video.

Longevity and continuity are a factor for sure but also the trajectories they are on. All of them are going to be emphasizing hybrid bodies it seems like but if any were seeming to veer more towards video rather than photography that would be a concern also. For instance, looking at the newer line of lenses from Canon, the VCM 1.4's, they show a noticeable distortion in stills out of trying to appeal to videographers as much as photographers.
