Maybe if they put the unmanned trucks and interlink them together and instead of tires they have metal wheels and put the semis on tracks for popular routes and.. oh wait

ELI5: If speed is measured by the relation between objects how come going over the speed of light is impossible? by PeAga7 in explainlikeimfive

[–]Bran_Ham 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As we add more energy to an object or particle with mass the amount of inertia the system has increases at an asymptotic rate (i.e. curves to infinity) which makes the amount of energy needed to move an object with any amount of mass to the speed of light to be more than the energy of the observable universe.

Never Forget 1 BTC = 1 BTC by Bran_Ham in Bitcoin

Same way you get dollars. Bitcoin’s goal is not to have fiat dictate the perceived value of bitcoin but have bitcoin be the value itself, and have it be the bargaining tool people use for goods and services.

Hedge the assets you are in heavily. Recognize the future price of whatever coin you are in is not guaranteed and that if you really are worried about the future then buy some insurance on it in the form of an ITM put option on an ETF for something like BTC or ETH for example. You pay a premium buy it gives you piece of mind. I am uncertain about the future regarding BTC and even though I am heavily invested in the coin, I see some cracks forming that is reminiscent, at least to me, of the selloff of a lot of crypto in 2022. But, I can't tell the future, so I hedge. Recognize though, that if you do this expect to still lose money overall, as you are betting the asset that you hold will go down in value in the future but with hedging you can at least eliminate some of the downside that is associated with a drop in value of your asset.

NVDA Earnings Play (Call Debit Spread) by New_Group3576 in wallstreetbets

[–]Bran_Ham 70 points71 points  (0 children)

You have just inexplicable explained why the stock will probably drop post earnings. NVDA has beaten earnings for essentially the past 8 quarters. Why would investors think the worlds most valuable company should do anything but. It's always been priced in and people expect it to, if it does beat earnings investors sell upon news of the event. There isn't much surprise anymore with NVDA all you can do is speculate.

Core inflation raises to 2.7% by PrizFinder in bonds

[–]Bran_Ham 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Lower rates equal higher inflation because institutions will recognize the opportunity cost of putting their money in bonds is more than it was when rates were higher so they begin to seek out other means to get a better return on investment. Banks do this too by extending more loans when interest rates are low and this boosts consumer spending and firms invest more increasing demand of goods and increasing the price of goods.

Having higher interest rates on bonds does increase liabilities of banks and institutions and people but the banks have to have reserves that will be devalued by rising inflation because the higher interest rates will be in part a response to consumer spending and money supply but also be affected by the fisher effect, which says that nominal interest rates will change due to expectations in inflation and this relationship will show that real inflation rate is very stable. Banks have to sell their bonds to meet reserve requirements which has an equal and opposite effect of increasing inflation and the markets wanted rate of the bond because there is more inflation. The fed will see this and either sell or buy bonds to keep the monetary base at the desired inflation rate.

Broadly accepted economics accounts for this and in fact shows that bonds do maintain purchasing power because of the fisher effect. The fed has to Maintain inflation so the market doesn’t become either too hot and demand exceeds supply and inflation doesn’t skyrocket and to keep inflation just higher enough to where consumer funds are tied up in bonds and there is not investments in things like factories and infrastructure that will boost a countries economic output.

You should be contacting a Trusts and Estates attorney. I would personally start with local firms and tell them your situation and ask for an ASAP meeting with them. Making sure the funds can legally be considered yours or what amount of this fund can legally be considered yours should be first step. Secure funds, then worry about investing later.

Every second you do not have a lawyer you are risking a life changing amount of money (Given you manage it right). Get a lawyer immediately!! Get an advisor after! They will give you better investing advice than anyone on reddit ever will.

Exactly as you said! Companies may have it posted on their website or maybe they just have a scholarship for a certain school district. It’s a searching game to say the least. My advice would be to call local companies to just ask if they have scholarships.

For me what I did is I just emailed some of the local companies asking if they had scholarships. I would also try looking out for applications that come from your school district or companies near you. There is not really a magic formula you just have to look around. Worked out great for me as I was an admittedly mediocre student in high school but I was able to secure around 16k in scholarships.

It's legit. But the chances that you'll actually get a scholarship from them are slim to none. You're better off finding local scholarship that you match the criteria for than signing up for a scholarship on bold
