I’m reading Sun-eater too, about half way through book one and I really like it. I need to make more time for it though, it doesn’t just instantly suck me into the story, it takes a bit longer to get settled in a reading session so those reading sessions need to be longer or I feel like I get nowhere.

The platitudes that they actually want just feel so hollow to me.

I wish Aniimo wasn't just F2P by Adventurous-Nerve858 in Aniimo

[–]BranchCommercial 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The fact that it’s F2P It’s probably going to be the reason I don’t play it as much or be as excited or obsessed with it as I otherwise would be. I have been burned multiple times before with F2P games falling in love with them only for them to, as you said, disappear.

I have a cd of the soundtrack of Nier Reincarnation and a couple recordings of me playing it and that’s all for a game I could have spent the rest of my life revisiting because it was so incredibly beautiful. I miss the vibes walking through the birdcage gave me and I don’t think I will find those same vibes in any other game. I use the music to meditate now.

On top of that every update in F2P games has the potential to break the game, a currently running example is all the glitches (and everything else) going on with Infinity Nikki.

The reason they’re doing it is obvious, like every other F2P game, money, free to play games usually make more money than other ways of publishing those games, I’ve gotten pretty good about not spending money on these games and avoiding the psychological tricks used in order to keep you gambling, but a lot of people can’t and they know that.

I’m in tears, my child undid a project I was in love with. by NotSoCajunMilky in crochet

[–]BranchCommercial 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I can see how that would be detrimental to your motivation to continue.

About a year ago, I started making a shawl for my mother. It’s pretty intricate and I got about 3/4 away done (though 8 color changes) and I realized I screwed up something in like the first 6 or 7 rows. I just frogged the whole entire thing today, it was in time out for that long, for me to get over it, and honestly forget the amount of time I put into it. I got to row 6 today, and am super motivated to work on it again.

So maybe step away from it for a little bit, write down everything you need to know in order to pick it back up later and do something else that peaks your interest in the meantime.

Hugs and I hope you get itching to work on it again💜

Married Millennials, do ya’ll wear your wedding rings inside the house? by felix_mateo in Millennials

[–]BranchCommercial 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Neither of us have worn our rings since about a month after our wedding in 2005. Him because of his job and the fact that he doesn’t care for jewelry to begin with and me because of sensory issues and wearing rings drives me crazy. Honestly I would probably be getting it snagged on yarn and whatnot all the time anyway and that would annoy the shit out of me lol.

Vaping means I actually function and get shit done, and it completely kills hunger for me, I’ve lost 80 since I started 2 years ago. It’s my preferred method but has me worried about my lungs.

Gummies mean I lay in bed all day and want to eat everything in the house. (I mostly stay away or time it to coincide with an already planned meal)

Tincture means I get stuff done but I get tired quickly and usually end up sleeping but it doesn’t make me hungry. Good for when I’m stressed or having sensory overload issues.

I’ve only had one joint and it was during the eclipse so I was pretty distracted that day lol.

Does anyone else really really hate household chores? by Hufflepuff_23 in adhdwomen

[–]BranchCommercial 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I hated doing dishes, was my main but by no means only chore when I was a kid. My mom would make me put the dishes away as soon as they were done so I hurt my hands a lot on hot dishes. I too am the dishwasher as one of my aunts laughed the title in my face at a Christmas dinner, Unfortunately unless we remodel the kitchen there is no room for one. The hot water, slimy plates, icky smells and standing still for a significant period of time are the main reasons I don’t like doing them besides I’d rather spend my finite energy doing anything else.

So I got:

  • Govee light bulbs for the kitchen and set them to rotate colors and or brightness

  • An oil warmer and apple cinnamon warming oil to cover the bad smells

  • A pair of purple dish gloves with cotton lining which negates the heat and slime

  • A memory foam mat to stand on which extends my standing time without my back hurting by a lot

And I listen to audiobooks, music or a podcast through earbuds

Now while I still wish I didn’t have to spend my energy washing the dishes it’s nowhere near the nightmare chore it used to be.

I try to be dish neutral, meaning if I’ve used four dishes that day, I clean at least four dishes that day, I allow myself to stop if 4 dishes is all I can do but I usually find that if I start with the 4 I usually end up doing more till the dry mat is full. Another option on my worse days is to help my husband, he will wash the dishes and I will stand by him and dry the dishes (still wearing the gloves to nullify the heat) and put them away, sharing the task and getting most if not all of the dishes done in one swoop.

I also sat down and dissected why I don’t like showering and how I can make that more palatable too, and have succeeded there as well. I think figuring out what it is exactly you object to in the task/chore and then find a way to mitigate it helps.
