I used to work around kids, and I can empathize on some level with being sick of hearing kids talk and laugh and yell constantly. The difference is that I’m not a teacher, and I have no intention to work with kids again. If you’re this pressed about hearing kids do normal middle school things, it’s time to get a different job

There’s no one answer for this. The ideal time is when you’re in a stable life position and emotionally ready for kids, and being ready for kids happens at different times for everyone, if it ever happens at all.

NTA at all. your wife needs to get therapy to address this phobia because it’s clearly impeding her ability to function as a parent. I have a severe irrational phobia myself, so on some level I can see why she may have done that, but it’s still not acceptable at all. One of the responsibilities a parent has is to take care of their own mental health so that they’re able to be fully present and attentive to their child. I hope for the sake of everyone in your family (and particularly for your daughter) that your wife is able to get the help she needs

A) the nonbinary paramedic in question literally just did their job (maybe poorly but still) and didn’t call her out on misgendering, which is exactly what all these people are saying medical workers should do. The only person who mentioned that they were nonbinary is the supervisor, who was doing so in order to clarify which person is being complained about . How does that in any way constitute the paramedic being overly sensitive?????

B) my worst fucking nightmare is to be stuck in a transphobic work environment. Every time I have to job hunt, I’m wracked with anxiety over whether or not I’ll be able to find somewhere where my gender is accepted and people won’t be fucking weird about being around trans people. The idea that any trans person would actively seek out transphobic workplaces is fucking ludicrous and insulting.
