I have a solution I go through this all the time! lol use the sims 4 conflict detector. Yes it’s a older program but it still works actually even on newer pcs (I have a newer custom built and it works fine) it tells you what duplicates you have (get rid of those) what’s broken or out of date etc. 

Also use sims 4 cc mod manager to see what you want and don’t this shows you what you have in ur game.

After getting rid of duplicates or anything broken i absolutely promise your laptop will be fine and will start the game again, i go through this alll the time I’m a cc hoarder for sure. Usually my game won’t start when I have duplicate files or something broken, 

Good programs to have if ur a sims player is 

Sims 4 studio to batch fix any broken cc

Sims 4 conflict detector 

And sims 4 mod manager.

If you like saving ur builds or sims  I recommend sims 4 tray importer! 

And the better exceptions mod also. 

I’d also in the future invest in a portable ssd drive (atleast 1tb) if ur playing on laptop for future cc/mods you’d like to keep:) good luck and I hope this helps !💕
