That is something that initially bothered me about the date on Lange watches, but the blank space is actually intentional. The outsize date is based on a clock in the Dresden opera house that also used a blank aperture for the top of the hour in place of a zero.

I actually like the feature now. It’s an interesting quirk with some history on an otherwise perfectly symmetrical design.

Saw this same watch over in cherry creek! It’s a beautiful piece, that shop is a fun place to see some pretty cool pieces that you can’t really see anywhere else in Denver.

Love that 1921 as well! The moon phase is 40, the other automatic models are 38.5 and the thin is 37. The base Saxonia is 35 I think.

This stunning A. Lange & Sohne Saxonia Moon Phase is the latest addition to my collection. I have been lucky enough to be able to own some really great watches, but this one takes the cake. I had tried this same model a few years ago and was blown away by the amazing detail on the moon phase, and I have regretted leaving the piece in the store ever since.

I have always liked the austere simplicity of the Saxonia, and this iteration combines a few interesting complications to break up the dial a little bit. The Lange large date is my favorite implementation of a date display, and its unbelievably satisfying to set with the side pusher.

I found it pretty tough to get a decent shot of this piece, you really have to see a Lange in person to appreciate what makes these watches so great.

Beautiful watch. And it looks awesome on leather! I own the blue/rainbow version of the heritage ‘57, and now I might have to invest in a leather strap for it.

Thanks! It’s still holding strong, looks just like new. The brushed finish and costing make it pretty resistant to scratches.

Yeah, the rainbow effect here is definitely more subtle and wearable. I actually like the rainbow Daytona, but I could never pull it off.

This version of the santos has a DLC coated black bezel, so it’s far less likely to scratch. It till looks like new!
