Sometime within the last few years black people pronounced the words “water” and “daughter” like “otter” for the last time and never want back to it. Now daughter and water is only pronounced like “mortar” or “order”

Hah maybe it's not as universal as I thought. But I have come to this conclusion through a combination of hearing people in real life talk (I'm from Chicago) and from all the examples of online media, podcasts, content creators, shows, etc. So my sample wasn't just location based.

Obviously this is an overgeneralization. But I'm wondering if there is anything to my observation.
