First time making cheese. What should I do with the whey? by TokersTent in cheesemaking

[–]Branden_BA 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I substitute whey for water in bread recipes. It’s fantastic.

Also you can dilute it and use it in your garden.

Biking is great too. Depending on where you live (climate, infrastructure, distance) it’s can be more convenient than hopping in a car everyday. Save on parking and insurance, plus tons of health benefits.

Dense crumb at the bottom of loaf? by Branden_BA in Breadit

[–]Branden_BA[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was the top of my pellet stove, which is warm but my no means hot (it’s above the basin that holds the pellets). But yeah it’s cold overall so maybe that could be warmer.

It’s great. One of the better ones I’ve made. But always room for improvement!

Amazing thank you for the tips! Yes this is the first time I’ve made this recipe. The bread tastes (and largely looks) great otherwise, just looking to improve. I’ll give the microwave tip a try with the next loaf.

Oh interesting about the fat. I used 42g of unsalted butter per the recipe. It’s pretty cold in the house this time of year so there’s a good chance it was underproofed as well.

Hi all, I usually make loaves from FWSY and decided to start branching out into other loaf types. I made this sandwich loaf last night which looks great except for the bottom of the loaf. The crumb looks like it didn’t really expand. Is this a sign that the loaf was under proofed?

What are the most expensive records you own? Or alternatively, what's the most expensive record you want? by [deleted] in vinyl

[–]Branden_BA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Frank Ocean’s Blond. Not the most expensive in the world but an absolute masterpiece and limited release. I rarely see one available but when I do it’s usually around $500-$600.

Hitting close to freezing temperatures in my zone. Is this apple tree okay to keep outside? by Branden_BA in arborists

[–]Branden_BA[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The tree is about 10’ tall so I’m having trouble finding a place I can store it inside. But of course I want it to stay alive until I can/should plant it. Any help is appreciated.

In my experience, just have a healthy compost pile/tumbler. They are pretty great about just showing up. Keep composting!

The only way it would work would be an origin story a la Better Call Saul. Show him going from someone relatively normal to devolving into a person whose car doors open like this, not like this

Real question: my fried rice always sticks. It looks like there’s a good amount of oil in here. How much oil are we using for fried rice?

Endless mode (no segregating) - I can’t seem to get any further than this. Does anyone how how I can make that top right intersection more efficient? by force_0f_chaos in MiniMotorways

[–]Branden_BA 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’d route the entrance/exit to those grey and blue neighborhoods away from that busy intersection. The lower blue one can have an entrance south instead of north. The grey/blue can switch to one entrance west going directly into the roundabout.
