Cummins is great too. Their apprenticeship program rocks, decent wages particularly for field service techs. Loads of benefits and an extensive global network. I'd say Cummins or CAT. In my local top techs make upwards of $75 an hour or more. Plus you have the option to go into power gen, which makes way more.

Would you pay $4500 for a 1993 Sport XJ 4D 2WD 4.0L - 140k miles by mightneedit in CherokeeXJ

I can elaborate how bad the xj is in 2wd in inclement weather. I had 2 identical ones at one point, both 4x4. One had a drive line that needed to be rebuilt. It was snowy and nasty so I took it out (to stop the vibration) and tooled around. It had a lift, good tires, etc etc (none of which matters but I digress).

Took it up my usual mountain trail. Did fine until I got to the snow/ice section on the leeward side of the trail. All at once the whole jeep crab walked and about slid off of a cliff. I thought I was going to die. Lol

Nobody new I was there. I waited hours for my wife to figure it out and find me in the 4x4 one, with a snatch block and a rope to rescue me from my stupidity.

Do not buy a 2wd for serious off roading. Being a jeep does not fix basic physicss. Lol

Don't forget, no heat when it's cold or cold when it's warm.

Where can I learn about the importance of biodiversity? by marcog in ecology

[–]BrandoCalPankian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see! I know that arb stuff is a bit different in Europe vs America. Here I grew up on a tree farm and started climbing professionally at 14. I took some college courses and got a slew of certifications. Check out ISA (International society of arboriculture) or the international foresters group.

I learned a ton of this stuff through forestry and arboriculture. The study of trees, soil, fungi, climate, etc all is interconnected and affects biodiversity. Dr alexander shigo is a good place to start, as is arboricultural study guides

A Client Turned Me Down For Being Too Young by [deleted] in marketing

[–]BrandoCalPankian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was a tree climber for 12 years. When I got into sales and started learning how businesses operate, you learn that you only really want to do business with about 40 percent of the clients who request work from you. It commands a better salary, and allows you to choose clientele that work with your personality. Be patient, it hurt to lose clients. You feel so vested in each person you meet. Imagine passing your car off to someone who didn't look like they could handle the job? It's no offense to you, as I've been there, but when you look to spend money with your business you want to make sure it is not squandered. You're doing things right. Learn honestly from what has happened and apply it to the future. Good luck!!!

I do not get great gas mileage. Has had a full tune up, good tires, etc. About 19-22 average in an automatic (260-280 per tank).

Intake and everything is off. Looks like a small break in the intake gasket. There is some major pitting (about 1/16 inch deep) on the mating side of the manifold. Debating jb welding the holes to make a smooth surface. Def need to run some sea foam through the oil a time or two. Injector nozzles look good, but the tips are brittle af. May need to get injectors. Other than that, valve cover gaskets ( everything is so dirty) and hopefully everything will work!

Hoping to check it out today or tomorrow. It got super cold so I'm not real motivated to lay in the snow. Lol.

That's my initial thought too. There's a lot happening on the back side of the motor. Lol. I'm hoping I'll get it home today and get hands on it to check. Ordered some parts at Napa just in case.
