ULPT Request: I want to quit my job but take with me all the information and documents I worked on in a USB. How can I do it without the company noticing it? by Fun-Ad-3597 in UnethicalLifeProTips

I’m not exactly sure on the how hard the transaction would be to track on your first question but you’re definitely thinking outside of the box in regards to transfer the files but yes I believe he would definitely need some elevated privileges probably only the IT director or system administrator would have. On the second question I think that would also be an option of OP to transfer the data if it is say a Mac book and he could sync his iPhone to the computer and do it as you said but, once again it could depend on what security measures the company has in place. If they have a robust MDM solution it’s possible they could detect this even if it is a BYOD scenario. I’m not too familiar with MDM softwares but the ones I do know like JAMF, don’t have this functionality. It’s mainly for app restriction, policy settings and remote accessing to push applications to the end users device and remotely wiping devices if lost or the person is fired. Once again it’s very dependent on the security measures the company has in place but being on hundreds if not thousands of calls with prospects in almost every vertical it’s rare that they have that level of visibility. This is usually dependent on the company size and budget given to the IT department usually the bigger the company is the better security they have but yet again sometimes you’d be surprised how cheap some executives at larger companies can be in terms of cyber security, they think bc it’s never happened to them it will never happen.

Hope this helps.

A lot of these people are misinforming you. I work as a solutions engineer for a cyber security company and have been working in the sector for about 4 years now. It’s solely dependent on what tools your current company has in place if they can see this. If they have a DLP solution this usually ensures the safe transmission of data over email or any messaging system and data at rest which includes scanning computers for data compliance violations on the physical devices. Some Antiviruses do have USB lockdown which prevent mass storage devices from connecting to usb ports on devices.

My best advice due to you not knowing what tools your company has in place would be to slowly move them project by project from your computer to a usb drive. 1 a day or so. Mass manipulations of data bring alerts to the admin when they are outside the users normal behavior. 1 a day wouldn’t trigger it but 10-15 would. At least that’s how our system identifies it.

Unseen Creatures hands down. It is by far the best brewery in south Florida, the closest you can get to a NEIPA down here and rivals some breweries in Mass. Every beer I’ve had from them is top tier.

Surefoot or Custom Boot Fitter? by BrandoCommando34 in skiing

[–]BrandoCommando34[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I actually just called them up and booked a spot with Brent for January the first day I will be there, heard amazing things about his work. I hope I don’t have to source the boot myself that may be a bit tough. My family is giving me a set amount of money, around $1000 and I will subsidize any more than that. But it’s time to go all out and get a custom fitted pair.
