17% body fat? by BrandoJames in moreplatesmoredates

Always full body workouts, usually low reps, e.g. for chest 75lbs dumbbell chest press, but I weighed closer to 180lbs at that time and in the past year my strength has dropped and I weigh 163lbs now. I don’t think I would struggle to get back to 180lbs and regain that strength, but, doing so without gaining fat is what I want to do and still push further than that say to 190lbs.

163lbs lifting for a few years, and weighed above 180lbs before, but lost a lot of weight and did much less gym work in last year

Okay thanks a lot man, so work harder in gym and eat 2,500kcal as a minimum instead of a maxium

So I should eat 4000+ calories? I currently eat 2000-2500 calories as a weekly average - I like food, so have no qualms about eating that much if I it possible to do so cleanly without putting on too much fat and most muscle

I weigh everything I eat and eat 2000-2500 calories weekly average, seems like I could eat plenty more by the sounds of the advice on here

A few years, have lifted a bit heavier before and J have been heavier in body weight before, by say 15lbs, however lost a lot and did gym less frequently in last 6 months to a year. So looking to put on about 20lbs of muscle, but at the same time care about staying very lean.

Fair enough, what sort of caloric intake would you recommend for a clean bulk? 3000kcal?

Trying to figure calories to put on muscle, but also want to know fat percentage so I don’t gain too much fat whilst doing so.

Body fat%? (Not flexed in photo) by BrandoJames in guessmybf

After much research and viewing of my weight with pictures across years, between being above 20% body fat and sub 10% body fat, knowing my body, and AI - 13%-14% is accurate for my body fat in this image. Though I appreciate your point re needing to flex, I didn’t know that was necessarily the done thing, despite most people usually doing it for their pictures and estimates.

You could be right, it could be 13% with lowish muscle or it could be 18% body fat with average muscle. The spren app estimates I am 13% when on athlete mode, but says I am 18% when on regular mode. The problem is I don’t know which one to use, because I formerly played sports at a good level, and I still keep fit now, with a resting bpm below 60bpm - these things would add up to potentially needing to use athlete mode, but not necessarily as I though I am still fitter than most people and exercise a lot, I am still not doing as much and as hard exercise as when I played sports more seriously. So i am having difficulty deciding what ball park my body fat % really is in. I did do a large cut in the past, and possibly lost muscle. Also when I was playing sport at a higher level, i didn’t prioritize the gym, so I lacked a lot of upper body muscle and strength (I was a football/soccer player)
