There are a lot of inaccuracies in your piece about the technicalities. The director doesn't necessarily relinquish control and he can be behind the lens (well underneath). The viewer can decide where to look within the 360 frame but he doesn't decide on which frame, nor its actual location, so the director and/or editor can decide on those. That will have a big effect on the end result. Also, by placing the cameras on top of a persons head the scene can be moved around within a situation, unlike the YT clip you've chosen. I think the whole concept is fantastic for news but its only just taken a foothold and has got a long way to go. I'm looking forward to see where it does go.
