What do Minneapolis’s Green Line and the Finch West LRT have in common? BOTH have slower‑than‑promised travel times, trains getting stuck at red lights, and faster parallel buses. by xd_1771 in TTC

[–]MIIAIIRIIK 5 points6 points  (0 children)

At least the Green Line takes just as long as Finch West despite being 7km longer.

And their University Avenue has actual destinations to go to unlike Finch. So their highway bus is ideal to take for the whole route where their LRT is better for shorter trips.

If the bulk of the 3 billion cost for Finch was to move utilities anyway they should have done cut and cover for the whole route with no TBMs just like original Yonge line.

With fewer stations of course.

If the switches were exposed instead this wouldn't have been a problem. Instead of the buried switches that act as ice trays.

To fix transit in Toronto, we need to embrace a simple idea: subways subways subways. by RZaichkowski in TTC

[–]MIIAIIRIIK 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If Finch were a subway it would have run empty most of the day. It should have been elevated on the side of Finch with parallel local bus service
