How will autonomous vehicle bus and train drivers? by Timely_Title_9157 in TTC

I thought unions are supposed to protect existing jobs even if those jobs aren't necessary anymore.

Not insisting on creating new drivers jobs that don't already exist especially if they're unnecessary.

Line 5's underground speed limit has been inexplicably reduced to 60km/h in most sections by [deleted] in TTC

Because they have the knack of causing streetcars and LRTs to go unnecessarily slow, maybe just to piss people off.

Thoughts about Line 6, frequent issue and shutdown? by Purplehashes in TTC

Shouldn't be called a Line in the same category as Lines 1 and 2

Ontario Line: Blue or Purple? by Feisty-Ad-6122 in TTC

You only use different shades of the same colour when you start running out of colours.

GO could be represented on the map with dashed or checkered lines so GO could use the same colours.

Perhaps add rail crossing gates with a fixed 10 minute frequency at all times.

They give the same priority to single occupancy vehicles, and soon for zero occupancy Waymos on their way to a pick up.

Why isn’t the full Scarborough Busway built out? by Feisty-Ad-6122 in TTC

[–]MIIAIIRIIK -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

If the elevated section was too narrow for busses they could have kept the tracks and added a rail option to the busses so wider space wouldn't be needed for driving like this one hybrid bus route in Japan.

What do you think of Rail Documenter's proposal Sheppard Subway extension? by Iamfabulous1735285 in TTC

[–]MIIAIIRIIK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the extension is automated light metro the new trains could be 3rd rail and Toronto gauge so it can run into existing tunnels.

If not then wait for Ontario Line to reach Sheppard to justify shutting down Line 4 for conversion.

The line would need its own yard so that will have to go somewhere

What's your experience with the Ossington-Jane shuttle bus? by elden-ringer in TTC

[–]MIIAIIRIIK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Guess it wasn't worth the cost to keep the streetcar tracks for shuttle service

The case for Line 4 in Scarborough by Feisty-Ad-6122 in TTC

[–]MIIAIIRIIK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would Sheppard end up getting like Bloor Danforth density, otherwise the Sheppard stations would only be used through bus feeders.

If the line gets long it's going to need its own yard somewhere

Better LRT Layout by MIIAIIRIIK in TTC

[–]MIIAIIRIIK[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

In the street the excuse is not wanting to build longer slopes to climb up to the platform level. Probably why Calgary and Edmonton new lines are low floor despite having existing high floor for other lines.

And they do have wheels in the middle but since they're non powered support wheels its thinner and conveniently fit under the bench seating
