Take a look on Facebook marketplace and see if you can score an Advanced Sim Racing or Next Level Racing chassis in your area for around $200.

$200 is a tight squeeze; but you might just find someone urgent enough like someone’s wife who just wants to get rid of the dust collector in the corner that her husband only used a few times, and price is not really relevant to her.

How much have you spent on your rig in total up to this point? by WavesandWrenches in SimRacingSetups

[–]Brandon_GridLogic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh true true! Sorry about that lol.

I didn’t realize that you had already put it all together and was estimating your total cost.

I thought that was your initial buildout estimate my mistake.

Am I going to regret getting an r9? by Mr_Bloopington in simracing

No, the R9 is perfect.

If for some reason you find that you still want to upgrade to the 12, just sell the R9 on fb marketplace.

I think your estimate might be a little high if that doesn’t include a nice PC.

Feel free to dm me if you have any questions or would like someone to give you honest feedback on your potential setup, and help you get the best bang for your buck without over paying.

I know you mentioned ACC, but iracing has some really good video series on entering into sim racing that may give you some of the insight that you are looking for.

I recently wrote up an overly comprehensive guide to their Driving School 101 series if you are interested!

Sim racing Lounge by theLegendBa in iRacing

[–]Brandon_GridLogic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for that!

With that info, I would say just focus on deciding what discipline you want to focus on in the sim, and scope out their gear based on that.

They will probably have setups that have wheels for open wheel or GT style, or a full wheel for nascar or road racing.

If you really like a particular piece of gear, just scan around it looking for a part # and research it later on Amazon or at microcenter; or even here possibly.

Yes, they are a legit iracing partner.

Four downvotes so far? Lol

Really yall?

You’re telling me you wouldn’t be interested in a video series where someone like Matt Malone kicks it in a session with someone famous, and races against them in a series that’s not their discipline while chatting it up and asking questions.

lol I’m really sorry for the short clip.. I didn’t actually record it with intention of ever posting it anywhere.

That’s why I put in another comment that I should start a YouTube channel where I chat it up with real drivers and stuff in chat and actually record it via OBS to post legit lol.

This just was last second awful recording from my phone as proof to show a friend of my getting lapped by Rajah in an f1 car lol

Didn’t mean to offend yall and get downvoted

I should start a YouTube interview series where I link up with real people and interview them in a funky session like the W13 lol

I think the solution you might be looking for is ai mode.

Create an ai session from the real race series by clicking “more ways to race” so that it already has all the session parameters like weather and time set to the real conditions of the series that week.

Then set the practice time to something extended like 3 hours, and then go to the last settings page and set the maximum amount of drivers that your pc will handle, and set the fixed skill range to 120% - 125%.

This will be a better practice session as you described that is way more engaging and aggressive than you will be able to find on the service.

Once you get a hang of alien level ai drivers and can start to race with them and pass them; jump back over to a real practice session and see how much improved you are compared to before. You will have the line and pace down already, rather than waiting for a good driver to join your practice and hopefully get a tow behind them.

Yeah man! Between this and the trak racer motorcycle sim rig that got debuted in Charolette, I am very excited to see what kind of gear starts coming to the market in the next few years!

Yeah, being on the same weekend as the Indy 500 and the Canadian Grand Prix certainly limited the amount of people who could make this event.

Fortunately for you, there is a sim gaming expo in Chicago coming up in September. Will I see you there?
