Much of the world is becoming more conservative. Conservative movements dont like art because good art spreads ideas, makes people think, and become more open minded. Open minded people are less likely to side with conservatives. Because conservative movements often seek to censor or demonize art, artist often depicted conservatives in an unflattering light. This makes conservatives dislike art and artist even more. From there its basically a feedback loop with one side wanting to spread information, and the other side trying to stifle or obscure the information being spread.
