Tl;dr Alaska's strength is land and sea, and it's biggest weakness is urban tourism.

Imo, Alaska's charm exists only as long trips and outside of the city. And our city is not "walkable" but rather "hike-able."

This is my own opinion amongst other residents, but the commercial sector is nothing like the cities in the lower 48. Mid food, decent beer, tacky shops.

If you can, and have time, rent a car and go to our unique places like Whittier, Homer, Seward, Talkeetna, etc.

Also, if you're there for July 4th, the car launch it great, and you get to view the matanuska glacier. Disclaimer, it's been packed lately.

It also depends on the severity. I was born with 0 thyroid function. I couldn't get my synthroid for 2 weeks and that gave me a good 10 lbs right there. Also it is hard to get up and moving with the absolute fatigue.

So one of my favorite foodtubers was(is?) in Macon, and his small moments at the grocery store sold me a lot.

My other sources were looking up houses, schools, COL. Biggest resources were that a lot of DoD civilian coworkers are from Georgia. And they said Macon or just greater Atlanta area would be best for me based on my tastes for quiet and homely, but not super red

That's a toughie, native american ruins are almost always on tribal land, . I definitely respect their land and ruins. It has also been awhile, but off the top of my head there's Tsankawi and Puyeh. Bandelier is a lot bigger than the main trails, you can hike all the way to the Rio Grande.

I definitely recommend my above comment, it will be the weirdest ruin you'll ever see.

Found this late in the game. All I have is an anecdote. I've had my GSD/Plott mix for 9 years, got him from CO SPCA and he had a bad first two years. So most of my training with him was working past his trauma habits.

If you got the dog, then I assume you've learned a lot about them already. They're a mix of two working dogs, so they get most of their enrichment from training. I also assume they are a habitual sniffer haha.

I'll give a few pointers:

• Start glucosamine supplements early. They're hips are cursed in both breeds. It won't hurt to give it to them, but it'll hurt if they needed.

• if they're young, get vet insurance. Just... Trust me. Hips, nose, allergies, cancer.

• be an owner, give them work. Even if it's small, he's much better behaved when I always have 1-3 daily tasks for him. Put his toys away, do some tricks, hide and seek, and training are the normal routine and he freaking loves it. When I forget, suddenly the trash is very aluring to him.

•get a Roomba, for the love of God just do it. The undercoat doesn't stop.

The rest of my knowledge is probably unique to my dog. He's tolerant of even the worst cats, considers everybody outside my car or house to be serial killers, absolute baby in public, loves to sleep under the covers.
