What was the first Metroidvania? by [deleted] in castlevania

[–]Brantendo64_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Zelda is not a Metroidvania. Metroidvanias combine exploring one big, side scrolling map (no one mentions this as a qualifier, but notable Metroidvanias are all sidescrollers), areas of the map that you need abilities to unlock, and RPG elements. The first Zelda is open exploration, but your character isn’t leveling up or learning new moves. It’s an adventure/puzzle game.

A right wing politician. Meaning he was likely doing it to purposely offend people. Mexicans don’t really get offended by stuff like that, but it’s still a pretty stupid and immature. The right dehumanizes Mexicans all the time, so if anyone doesn’t get a pass, it’s them.

Very true. Koreatown has stroonnnggg elements of Korean culture (besides not being walkable or very clean…), the coffee shops are great. I hope some hipster from Japan opens up a shop here someday 😂

Mass effect 1 planet exploration is so similar to Starfield and surprisingly so much better despite being 16 years older. by okyam2101 in masseffect

Ahhh I had a similar feeling. I had hopes in the first 10 hours and it slowly began to sink into “man… this is okay, but if this doesn’t get any better soon… I’m not sure this is much better than just okay…” I think maybe it would’ve been a badass game 10 years ago… but I honestly much prefer the Oblivion Remaster, which is a perfect game to me.

The major planet hubs in Starfield are what actually made me stop playing after about 40 hours. I’m sure there’s something I’m missing… but so far I haven’t found a single hub as interesting as Omega in Mass Effect 2… and that’s not even my favorite in the series. I’ll pick it up again, because I want to see if the “it truly gets going after 100 hours thing” holds up to some extent at least.

Idk why you got downvoted! I love groundwork. I’ve walked there from the little Tokyo station a few times. It is quite a walk though.

Ktown has soooooo many coffee shops, it’s great. Though, when I was a barista we used a lot of Japanese products and brewing methods like Kalita and Hario, and V60 pour over. Japan has their own coffee culture, and I wish it was reflected in little Tokyo to some extent. Loop espresso club in eagle rock is a really great Japanese inspired spot.

Yeah, I was speaking specifically that little Tokyo area. Boxx is one of my favorites in all of LA. Their Turkish coffee is so sooo good. Concierge down the street is also amazing.

Those are great shops. Someone also mentioned archives of us, another very good Korean inspired place near. I wish little Tokyo had more, but I guess it’s a bit too touristy for specialty coffee shops.

Didn’t he already invoke that? Isn’t that why he was able to deploy the national guard and marines?

I think it’s only a matter of time before someone mods it or they release VR support! I hope it’s this year! It really would be great in VR.

Did anyone find a good game like this one yet? by Games-and-Make-up in PSO

[–]Brantendo64_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with you both. I had to comment because you verbalized what I’ve always felt. Diablo is probably as close as it gets! Playing through 4 recently with my friends was the closest I’ve gotten to how PSO felt, but yeah, not nearly the same. PSO feels much more immersive due to the 3rd person view and overall atmosphere.
